We took two of these backpacking on the AT. The texture and vegetables turned out great, but the chili itself was too spicy for my daughter so I tried it. I like spicy food and thought this chili was too spicy. We ended up giving the other meal away to another hiker.

Bought this a few months back to try it out, am (or was) a die hard mountain house fan especially due to the price difference. Finally made it last night and WOW! First freeze dried I couldn't tell was freeze dry, or at least in comparison to either mountain house or peak. The combination is great, and that's from someone who doesn't care for cooked carrots or onions. Didn't matter, I enjoyed every bit of it. The price is something I didn't care for when I bought it but now that seems to be the going rate so I will choose this and Peak moving forward so much so that I ordered the other flavors last night. All Wild Zora is missing now is a breakfast hash/skillet!

I just panned the Wild Zora breakfasts in another review. But both the Beef meals were very good and I will buy them again. The Bedrock Beef Chili tasted great. The seasoning had a little more heat than most bland freeze-dried foods. (That's a good thing!) It was easy to make and didn't require simmering so no pots to clean. Best of all, the ingredients were clearly recognizable when looking at my meal. The beef (which was a good texture) looked like little pieces of carne asada. Tasted like it too.

I tried three of Zora's meals. This was the best of the three, but none of them tasted very good. I've been paleo for six years now, so I was disappointed, because most other freeze dried foods are loaded with garbage ingredients. In addition to failing taste-wise, the Zora meals were ground up into tiny bits, so you end up with something like oatmeal. I expect this has something to do with getting the meals to rehydrate quickly. But other makers have figured out to do that without turning their meals to mush. Too bad. Zora seems like a nice gal.

Outstanding!!!! We took these backpacking and we were amazed at the flavor and how filling they were!! I also love the clean ingredients!!! No preservatives or additives. The packaging is great too. Just add hot water right in the bag. Easy clean up. I am going to start bringing these to work for lunch too!!!!
