I cannot believe it. This stuff is a miracle
This is an update on my previous review. I began taking this two years ago after an alarming loss of bone density that showed in my last scan. My doctor told me I was going downhill very fast and called me not once but twice on the phone trying to talk me into taking Fosomax or getting a Reclast IV. There was no way with all the necrosis of the jaw and reports of people's thigh bones suddenly snapping like a twig because all you are doing is hanging onto old weak useless bone.Well anyway, in a panic I began researching and came across the good news about Strontium. My doctor was kind of condescending about me taking it and acting like it was snake oil and said that any bone it builds probably wouldn't be good anyway. Well isn't that the complaint with the prescription drugs?.I had my DEXA finally last week and interestingly enough I kind of had to fight with them to get the results. At first I was told I was stable. But I pushed for more info than that and though I didn't get actual figures I got an admission that the density of my spine had increased significantly and supposedly she didn't have the other figures (hummm) but I was upgraded from osteoporosis to osteopenia. I am going to try and get them to send the last two results so I can see for myself. But I have to get the nice girl on the phone who is cooperative when you need something hah!I maybe be imagining it, but I get the feeling the doctor was trying to discourage me from taking Strontium because he knew there would be a marked improvement and then the cat would be out of the bag that you can increase your bone density without hard core, expensive and dangerous drugs. I had to push him to even test me this time too after him saying I had a real problem last time and this time saying I had been stable when I said how about my DEXA Aren't I due? And that just does not add up.Call me crazy, but I do believe this is a well kept medical secret that the medical profession does not want us to know about.

I Feel Young Again
When I was diagnosed with Osteopenia 4 years ago at age 57, I was horrified but not surprised. That would explain the pain that I felt in my bones after any kind of strenuous activity. My Osteopenia was so close to being Osteoporosis that I felt almost like a disabled old lady. I started taking Boniva but it caused horrific pain in my kidneys, and after 3 months, I stopped taking it, against my doctor's advice. That's when I started doing my research, and began taking Doctors Best Strontium Bone Maker every night, and I took it religiously for 3 years. Another year went by (of taking no supplements except 500 mg of calcium) and I had another DEXA scan. Results were that I had a 14.7 % increase in bone density in my left hip and a whopping 19.9% increase in bone density in my right hip! I still have Osteopenia in both femoral necks, but there has been a statistically significant increase in bone density compared to the prior study done in 2011. I immediately began taking the Strontium again, to deal with the bone density in my femoral necks. But I feel like a new person, I can do anything, exercise heavily without having pain the next day in my bones, and feel that I am well on my way to having the peak bone mass of a young adult. I would also like to add that I like to ride horses and have had my share of scary (and violent!) spills. Believe me, it's no fun to topple off a horse and hit the ground hard. But luckily, I have not broken any bones, to my own surprise. All my friends tell me that I have the body of a kid. I'm giving all the credit to Strontium Bone Maker!

Probably Deserves 5 Stars
I'm giving this a 4 star because this wasn't for me. I purchased it for my husband. He has stage 3 osteoporosis and is 8 times more likely to suffer from a fracture. When we learned this, the doctor prescribed Fosomax, but after reading customer reviews, I was extremely apprehensive. On the same forum for the Fosomax reviews, one person mentioned Strontium. I'd never heard of it before, but checked it out. My husband was agreeable to give it a try.The osteoporosis has caused bad back pain which worsened over the years. Recently, he'd been forced to take Aleve almost daily and to lie with a cold pack. I can't remember, but it was only after a few days of taking this product that my husband stated his pain had improved. It's been almost 3 weeks and during all this time, he's not taken a pain reliever or used the cold pack. Can we say affirmatively this product brought on these results? Well, something happened during this time. And, oh, during the night, now there is no pain at all so that he sleeps better. He wants me to rate it 4 stars instead of 5 because not all of the pain is gone. We don't even know if this is supposed to allieviate pain, so maybe it deserves 5 stars. All we know is that there are no negative results, (for him) and for whatever reason, my husband HAS improved. So we'll buy more, and we do recommend to at least giving it a try.

I was totally sold on strontium after doing a good deal of research on it
I gave this three stars because I'm still on the fence about this stuff. I was totally sold on strontium after doing a good deal of research on it, but then I told my doctor I was taking it because I've already got osteopenia and my bones are breaking (7 breaks in last 3 1/2 years) because of the prednisone I take for lupus and sjogrens. Big mistake. She says it could give me a heart attack or another stroke and advised me not to take it. I looked it up on the internet again but did not find much about strokes and heart attacks being associated with it so really don't know what to do. Right now, I"m not taking it but don't want to take drugs like Reclast which have terrible reviews on the internet when I was reading about it. Kind of "darned if I do" and "darned if I don't". Wish I knew the truth about this because my bones are breaking and I'm still on prednisone and I can't make a decision either way. And I recently heard from a friend about a person with the same bone condition that I have (charcot foot L & R and Pessiers's disease) who died from complications of breaking bones. Pesonally, I want to take the stuff and heal my bones, but will have to reorder. Doctor scared me so bad I threw out a full bottle of the Strontium! :(
