These go by many names: bulbed rivet-nuts, cross nuts, plus nuts. Whatever you call them, these are the ones to buy. Quality is very good and they are easy to install.I am using them to hold down L-track in the floor of my van. I am still bolting through the floor in places using stainless bolts and nuts with a steel backing plate. For difficult to reach places these are awesome. Pull out strength is something like 1200lb when properly installed.For install I am using an inexpensive rivet-nut tool I picked up on Amazon. With a little creativity it works for these cross-nuts. In all I’ve installed about 70 of these. None have spun or been cross threaded so I call that a win. Correct drill size is 0.488”. I used a step drill that ended in 1/2” or a stand-alone 31/64” bit…but the step drill is much easier in thin metal since it doesn’t grab and twist.Anyhow, great product. Yes, we’ve grown accustomed to “free shipping” so I hesitated to buy these since it was around $10 for shipping. Price with shipping is very reasonable. It works out to less than $0.50 a cross-nut.

These worked great for my installation. They are rated at 125 lbs. of pull out force each, so I don't think my laundry bar installation will be in any trouble. Theses things work great. Lots of holding power. Just wish they came in stainlessSteel or aluminum. Using for kayak handles. Seller shipped them to me by usps. Arrived on time and in good shape.

Worked perfectly the first time. I didn’t have a rivet nut gun and knew this ahead of time. So I used a 2.5” grade 8 5/16” bolt, two grade 8 washers and a 3/8” coupling nut. Welded the washers to the coupling nut used an adjustable wrench to hold the coupling nut and an impact driver with a1/2” socket to engage the rivet nut. I have done it this way many times in the past and thought I should share.

Used these to add connection points in van conversion, and am very happy with the quality and strength. I feel much better about these than about rivnuts. Should have bought the install tool, but managed (mostly) with a DIY tool.
