Very soft stone but decent quality
This is for the orange 400/600 stone. It arrived in a cheap orange plastic case, which was a nice unexpected touch, but also arrived with a decent chip out of the edge of the 600 side a couple inches from the end...bad place but I can work with it and eventually with flattening it should be gone. That said, the stone arrived flat...seems like more of the coarser 400 grit in the sandwich, not an even line like on my Norton and other combo stones, but no biggie. Both sides of this stone are quite soft and will wear very quickly, which is unfortunate, so if you don't own a flattening stone pick one up because you'll need it soon. Actually a cheap silicon carbide 120/240 stone for a few bucks is adequate as a flattener, as long as that stone is flat. Maybe worth the extra bucks to pick up a Norton instead, but all in all this stone is decent, certainly a good value if you don't mind the softness.

Average, with minor QA issues so far
First, the product arrived with some QA issues, not the last of which are several nicks, notches, and minor blemishes. For example, not one corner is the coarse side is intact. Also, there's a fairly prominent, though shallow, divot in one corner of the 600 grit side. Finally, the container was broken, as shown in the pictures. As to the stone itself, I'm going to be cutting some new edges next week and I'll know more then. Also, stones take weeks/months to come into their own, so I'll update once I've had time on material. The things in looking for are edge cutting, durability, and performance.

What's what?
I was looking for a 500 grit whetstone but didn't find one on Amazon. I found this one with pretty high customer reviews so I bought it. Wish I hadn't. If it is, in fact, a 400/600, dual sided stone, neither side (or grit) is identified. Second, this is a narrow, short stone and, so, is not a good stone for sharpening kitchen knives.

I'm sure the product would work as advertised, but it is packed poorly..
Opened the box to find the stone was chipped, there were no chips in the box, which would seem to indicate that the stone was chipped before it was shipped..

Works but with some issues
You get what you pay for came chipped up in the corners quality is not the best but it still created a edge on my knives so it works!
