Lanksy Dual Grit Sharpening Puck: Axe Sharpener, Knife and Machete Sharpener, and Garden Tool Sharpener - LPUCK

After I bought my first one, I bought 3 more,2 for gifts. Easy to use and works.

This puck is great. First time using one. I have used all types of sharpening stones. This one is by far the easiest to use. I got a nice edge on my splitting maul and small hatchet in just a few minutes. This is a must have in my opinion.

Pros:-The 2 grits are different enough to work on both knives and Axes.-Has lasted years with minimal amount of wear.-Small and light enough to feasibly stick in a pack if out backpacking for a week or more.Cons:-It did not come with a rubber sheath/covering resulting in small nicks and chips throughout the years.-It is a little small if you have large hands, (XL).Conclusion: I would definitely buy it again.

Does what it needs to small and fits in any bag.

All ya need is a glob of spit and some elbow grease!

I take it camping with me and love keeping my axe keen on a long trip when others start to dull.

I needed something to sharpen my gardening tools on a regular basis. First I bought these three items:Accu Sharp 060 Accu Sharp 060 GardenSharp Tool SharpenerLansky Dual Grit Sharpener Lansky Dual Grit SharpenerLansky Multi-purpose Lawn and Garden Sharpener Lansky Lawn & Garden Multi Purpose SharpenerSurely one of these would do the trick and make my solve my dull gardening and yard tool problem. Well, yes, they do... eventually, sort of... The two "stone like" sharpening tools work well on all tools and they stick shaped one allows you to work between tines and on smaller blades (pruners and such), but both of these tools are slow and tedious to use if you are going for a sharp edge. It would take me 30-40 minutes to sharpen one full size shovel with these sharpeners.The Accu Sharp Gadget is only useful for delicate small hand shovels and some pruners/shears (but not most of them). It is useless on larger tools or blades that are sharpened on one side only (most pruners). The edge that it ultimately creates if very blunt and dulls quickly. I haven't used it since my first efforts with it. Not recommended.Then a couple weeks ago, I had our ficus hedge removed. The crew that removed it was using a drill/driver mountedgrinding tool to sharpen all their tools (pick axes, shovels, machetes and some heavy spades) as they chopped and dug through those ficus roots. Eureka! Sharpened tools in a matter of seconds, not laborious minutes or hours! Enter the Hot Max Mounted Grinding Wheel! Hot Max 26044 1/4-Inch Round Shaft 2 1/2 by 1/2-Inch Mounted Grinding Wheel This baby was less than $2 when I ordered it from Amazon (but I certainly would have paid at least as much as any of the other "sharpeners" that were around $7 when I bought them) and is perfect for making rough (but sharp!) edges on medium and large tools! I still might use the other two sharpening stones to refine the edges (on some tools) created with the grinding wheel, but this baby is a fantastic time saver.
