Worked miracles on our German Shepherd
I love this product!! Here is why:I got my first German Shepherd puppy about a 1-1/2 years ago, and didn't realize the importance of checking into the soundness of her parents' hips and joints. Before she was even one year old, she had back-to-back incidents where she hurt herself playing with our other dog, and exhibited lameness in her back leg. She was in so much pain I had to help her up the outside steps, getting behind her with hands under her belly to hold her back legs up so she could climb up with her front legs. When it happened the 2nd time, we took her to the local vet, who felt her back joints, and said they felt "mushy", like they were not solid at all. She said we'd gotten a "lemon". She recommended we take our GS to a Vet who specializes in orthopedic surgery to check her out.The ortho vet took X-rays and did numerous other tests, and told us our GS had two bad back ACLs, as well as hip dysplasia. He recommended she get both knees operated on, one after the other. She would have to be on restricted activity during the lengthy recovery time of 3-6 months per knee. In addition, each operation would cost a couple thousand dollars! We were upset to think of our energetic, fun loving young dog getting laid-up for so long. We knew she'd hate it. And I was shocked at the estimated cost; it might not have seemed like much to the Vet, but it was a lot of money to me. I could come up with the money if I had to. But it would mean taking money from something else (like work on our house that needed to be done, such as buying a new furnace). And on top of that, I was concerned about whether this was really the right thing to do, especially since it had been a few weeks since she'd exhibited lameness. So I needed to think about it.In talking about the situation with a friend, he told me about Cosequin DS, and I looked it up immediately, I was impressed by the positive reviews, and ordered some immediately. We started our GS on the "initial dosage" right away.So what happened? Our GS has been injury-free ever since she's been on Cosequin (several months now). She runs and plays with our other dog, dashing and darting around our yard like any normal, healthy young dog. She is happy, active and enjoying her life. She does not exhibit any symptoms of being in distress, even thought the ortho Vet said she would be in constant pain without the operations. Will she someday need to have the knee operations? I don't know. I do believe that the vet saw knee and hip problems. But my gut tells me, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it", at least not as long as her quality of life is so good.So yes, I LOVE this product, and highly recommend it to others. I don't know if your results will be as good as ours, but I hope so, and it is certainly worth a try!

IT WORKS !!!
In August, I went out of town and made the mistake of taking my 14-yr-old Llasa to a kennel that has the connotation of a heavenly pet resort (referred by groomer), but was the worst nightmare. After just 3 days, my poor dog was bleeding in one paw, almost blinded, and walked as though he was crippled. Yes, he already had poor eyesight but had no signs of bleeding or trouble w/ walking before going to the kennel. If it was not for Amazon and the customer reviews, I don't know how I would have nursed him back to health. I immediately took him for a bath, faithfully cleaned his eyes and used iDrops, and gave him Nutramax Cosequin DS daily. Soon, he no longer bumped into the piano or kitchen cabinet and he was walking better. After 4 weeks, he now just jumped over the threshold after being in the backyard. The hardwood floor is still hard for him to negotiate; he slips now and then, esp. when excited. But he is no longer sagging at the hips as though he was in pain. I could see the improvement after feeding him the Cosequin 2-3 weeks. Too bad it took several days for me to find Cosequin and for it to get here. But it was well worth the wait.Even though I took him to the vet immediately upon my return, they just said he was old and there was nothing they can do. How sad that they do not even know about the wonderful products on Amazon. At first, a couple of people even told me to put him down so he will not suffer the (leg) pain. I was horrified and saddened, and of course could not do it without trying everything I can. SOOOOOOOOOO glad I found Nutramax. With proper care, I think he still has a few good years left. And, please!!!, check out kennels thoroughly before you put your pets there. They are helpless against abusive or indifferent caretakers. It's sad to say that the neighborhood it's in also can be a factor--I should have trusted my gut instinct instead of relying on a referral. Just want to say thank you to Nutramax and Amazon and its customer reviewers.I would give this 100 stars. That good.

Great Value and Dogs Love Them
I washing to buy my Cosequin from Costco but this seemed like a better deal via Amazon. Nutramax Cosequin DS is great because my dogs eat them without issue. They love the taste. Great value and recommended.

Yes, it works
My vet had suggested this due to my dog's age of 10 and slowness with steps. The next week she torn her ACL. So I quickly got the meds and started them. She has now been on them for 5 weeks with great success. Her stiffness has improved and waiting for warm weather to continue our walks. My only concern was the gastrointestinal distress she suffered one or two times a week. She had tremendous gas and indigestion causing her pain and crying. I had been giving her food with her pills but that didn't seem to help. The problem occurred about 8-12 hours after her dose. So started feeding her when she had gas and seemed to work. Anyone else had this problem? Otherwise no problems and glad to see results.
