Good solid appliance
I replaced my sharp convection microwave with this because I couldn't find another sharp from a reputable company name that I recognized. I would much prefer a new sharp as I had 10 years of great service with it and used the convection a lot. I wouldn't usually make a purchase with the lower rating on this but I'm very aware that convection cooking is still new to a lot of people and it takes a while to get good at it and/or do it sucessfully. This unit looks nice although it does show fingerprints but that's easy to deal with. I hate the door latch because it feels very unstable but who knows, it may last the life of the unit. The glass turntable is nice, my sharp had a metal one I kept covered with parchment paper circles which kept it clean. I've just begun to cook with the convection and I cooked something that took 18 mins in my sharp but had to cooked 9-11 mins longer in this unit. I'm not sure what that's about yet but it disappointed me. I bake cookies and pretty much everything else in the convection so there will be a lot of adjusting times it seems. I'm very savvy with convection cooking and prefer it. It took a lot less baking time in my sharp versus a regular oven. I'm usually comfortable with Cuisinart because my food processor is 10 years old and still going strong. Also my Cuisinart Stand mixer is 5 years old and works great. Both of those appliances have motors built like tanks so I took a chance with this unit. In my sharp you had to place a silicone or other pie plate upside down to pop popcorn so I appreciate not having to do that with this Cuisinart. It pops great just on the glass tray. I do miss the interactive display on the sharp. In convection cooking I have found its just not necessary to preheat at any time and everything previously came out wonderful in my sharp. I just popped it in and turned it on.I'm really uncomfortable about the much longer cooking time for my first few items but I plan to really test this unit for convection cooking with mostly baking. I don't cook meats in the convection because I hate the cleanup but I may try a chicken. Also the microwave is supposed to be 1000 watts. My older sharp was only 900 and heated a bit faster than this unit but it's close enough.I plan on reporting back after I've used the unit more. So far I can only justify 3 stars because the convection took so long to cook but it does cook so I hope I can up the rating when I'm more familiar with the unit.Update:7-23-17After using the convection and microwave constantly for several months I am very pleased. It does take a little more time on both the microwave and convection that what is recommended for foods but it performs very well.I would purchase this appliance again. I feel the complaints about units not working are most likely because something was damaged in shipping. Boxes get tossed a lot in shipping.

Microwave + Toaster oven in 1, saves counter space!
Bought this for my wife because she was wanting a microwave / toaster oven all in one. I had no idea that even existed until I ran across this. The reviews are mixed, but I think a lot of it is just different expectations. You wouldn't expect an oven to take a few minutes to cook something, this won't do that either. We love the grill / microwave combo for warming up food. You get speed from the microwave but the grill helps to crisp things up. I think the grill rack really helps with that too. Didn't see any documentation about using it or not using it on microwave mode, but we've been doing it, and have had the occasional arc or spark, but otherwise seems fine.We had a stronger Panasonic microwave, so I've noticed this does take a bit longer reheating etc, but that's no issue. My son complains about the number of beeps when it finishes, which I understand. Would love to know if that's something that could be modified. From a looks standpoint, this looks great in our kitchen, matching nicely with the other stainless steel appliances.Overall, we're really happy with this so far and it's accomplishing exactly what my wife wanted - microwave and toaster oven without having to have 2 units on the counter.

DO NOT BUY - If I could give this zero stars I would
Bought this combo unit in hopes of eliminating redundant appliances on the kitchen counter. The idea of a microwave that also serves as a toaster/second oven was very appealing. The first problem we had was that it kept tripping the circuit breaker. I finally got tired of resetting the breaker so we picked a different, non-ideal outlet but it didn't trip the breaker as often so we lived with the cord awkwardly draped across the counter. The second issue occurred when the push button that opens the door broke WITH food inside. No matter how hard I tried I could not get it out. It was still under warranty so I called and was told to take the glass turntable out and to ship it. I explained that I cannot get the door open in order to remove the glass turntable, not to mention the food trapped inside. I was told to absolutely not ship it with the glass turntable inside. AGAIN, I explained that I could not get the door open to be able to remove the glass turntable. I even tried to pry it open but couldn't. I went round and round with the person and they simply couldn't understand why I was not able to remove the glass turntable. I ended up shipping it as-is.Anyway, after about a month it was returned and the push button door opener was indeed fixed. However, upon first use after warranty repair I noticed that not all the digital numbers lit up. So, now I had to guess how much time was left every time I used it. Super annoying. So, once again, I contacted Cuisinart to inquire about repairing the digital readout. They had me ship it back and THIS time they sent an entirely brand new unit. I mean, never used. Great. So you would think...Around that same time we built a new house and moved in. The brand new unit was still in the box because I thought it would be nice to have a new, unused microwave in our new kitchen.I was so excited... I plugged it in, used it, and BOOM. Tripped the breaker. Ugh! So, we called our electrician who came and wired up a completely dedicated 20 amp outlet JUST for this machine. Still, it trips about every 20 uses or so. We have lived with it.Then, just yesterday, the flipping push button door opener broke on this brand new one!! Sheesh! I swear, I had just removed the last new sticker on it a few weeks ago.I have just had it. I am DONE with this machine. It has caused so much headache and wasted time. I'm going to buy some cheap Black Friday deal.I DO NOT RECOMMEND WASTING YOUR TIME AND MONEY ON THIS EXPENSIVE, POORLY DESIGNED Microwave combo no matter how good the positive reviews sound.
