I see photos online of the MotoTote clearing spare tires. I’ll be carrying on a Defender 90. This carrier shows a short mount. Will it clear a tire?

The horizontal distance from the hitch pin hole to the bike center line is 20 inches max. This is enough to clear most spare tires if in the middle of the vehicle or, if on one side, you assemble the MotoTote so the bike faces towards the opposite side from the spare tire. That way, the spare tire is not near the handle bar (front) end of the bike. Vertically the bike tire prints will be about even with the top of the hitch receiver tube. With this information, you should be able to determine if there will be interference with the spare tire. If you need more clearance, you can always get the MotoTote Receiver Tube Long in the Parts section on their website.
