so it appears to be very misleading to say breakaway correct?

I realize this question is old, but for new purchasers, I wanted to verify these indeed ARE breakaway. I ordered these last July for my indoor/outdoor cat, and am placing another order today (April) bc he has gone through the 6 pack... loosing them outside bc they do in fact, break away. The current pack is a 10 pack, but for the price even 6 that lasted over 8 months is very affordable! He doesn't venture far from home, showed up as a stray, so I'm not so much worried about him being taken, but hoping the bell on these collars helps warn his prey, as he likes to bring me gifts for taking him in.

The description says they're break-away collars yet the answers say they're not break away. which are they???

Hi! Our updated cat collar set are break-away collars. The reason some answers say they're not break away is because the first version we sold wasn't break-away. Then we updated it and now we guarantee it is a breakaway cat collar.

How wide is the collar? I need one that is 1/4 inch.

I just measured a spare we have laying around - the fabric is 7/16 and the plastic hardware is 9/16. So both are wider than 1/4. If it helps "8/16" is just half an inch. I think you would not want anything close to 1/4 though, as you would not have the good mix of color and reflective material.

How much force is required for the release?

They require a stronger force and stay on my outdoor/indoor cat well.

The media could not be loaded. By far the best breakaway collar I've tested. I finally trusted the collar enough to put his ID tags on it. The reflective part of the collar is good for my peace of mind, as mine is outdoorish. Will buy again.
