I live in an old house which backs onto large church grounds which are full of wildlife. I was recommended to buy steel wool as a deterrent for mice who have decided they want to be my housemate so I was happy to find these. I was surprised they weren't larger but they have worked well for plugging any openings around the exterior walls and a couple inside, too. They fit snugly and can't be seen. Mice can fit into tiny spaces but they wouldn't be able to get past these plugs because they are rolled tightly and there's no room for manoevre. Useful & easy to use.

Came as a pack of 24. Size is about as long as my thumb and a bit wider. I bought them for plugging up one particular mouse hole. The hole is near the pipe for a radiator and this is an old house with floorboards and a gap underneath so I actually 'lost' quite a few of them as they fell down into the space beneath the floorboards. The first night after using some, the mouse evidently battled through them, so the next day I used even more, and left the last few protruding up from the hole. Then I used brown sticky parcel tape over the top to see if the mouse would still be able to get through - but it didn't. In the end I used about 17 of the 24 just to block up one hole but worth it. I was using these in conjunction with sonic mouse deterrent devices. I was pleased with this product.
