What size I should get if my son is 27 inches waist?

My son is a 23 waist and tall got a 14 and I had to see an extra button to make the waist smaller

Do these have an adjustable waistband?

I bought a boys size 7 and they did have the adjustable wasitn on The inside waist band with the buttons for securing. I found them to fit spot on. My son who is picky about shorts really loves these! Going to but more.

No. We ended up keeping a size 16 (instead of size 14) because the waist was tight.
