Detroit Axle - Steering Rack & Pinion for 1998-2002 Lexus LX470 Land Cruiser Complete Power Steering Rack & Pinion Assembly 1999 2000 2001 Replacement

Was a bit hesitant to purchase this non-OEM rack.. but based on their reputation with CV axles- I decided to give them a try. Glad I did. The part looks to be EXCELLENT quality (not like the crap-black coated remans) and fits perfectly. Comes with the INNER Tie Rod Ends, I recommend you buy OUTER Tie rod Ends as well (might as well) with this Rack. No core charge either (like all the local parts houses), and they send a RETURN LABEL for you for your lifetime warranty with return of the core. Don't skimp and also be sure to flush the steering system as the last step.2000 Toyota Land Cruiser Steers like new again, so far VERY pleased with the build quality and functionality.Thanks Detroit Axle.

The rack fit perfectly and is a good value. But when I took it to the alignment shop, the mechanic discovered that the rack was moving around. I took the car back home and discovered the bushings were flexing more than the old ones in the original rack. This rack doesn't come with the large bushing on the passenger side, so a bushing set needs to be purchased anyway. Go ahead and change all the bushings before installation. It would have saved me the pain of changing the bushings in the car and the cost and hassle of another trip to the alignment shop.

The rack lasted me 4 years, decent amount of off-roading and roughly 20,000 miles. I’m replacing it with an OEM Toyota unit which is about double the price, but I’m assuming it will last me more than 20,000 miles.1999 Toyota Land Cruiser 4.7L

Rack has been installed for a few weeks and I’m very happy. They send a prepaid return for the core and don’t charge you in advance. When it’s returned to them, they start your 3 year warranty. I’d buy from them again. Tbh, I’d prob sea h for them first because of price and quality. Be sure to buy a bushing kit which showed up for me under “others purchased these items together”. That’s a good feature amazon offers
