Beautiful globe from Mova
This was purchased as a gift. So I am waiting to see how the gift is functioning.Been looking at those globes for at least two years and decided the time was right for a Valentines giftPersonally I think they are unique and just gorgeous. As of now I ordered it, and I liked what I saw and read.

Rotates using only light and earth's magnetic field
I first saw this at a resort hotel gift shop while on vacation and was instantly amazed. No batteries, just ambient light and earth's magnetic field. It rotates as if by magic. There isn't anything like it. Got the 4.5 inch size to not be too big on the piano. Wanted to put on left side of piano but wouldn't rotate. Moved to right side just 2 ft away and it worked. Magnetic fields can be distorted due to hvac ductwork, plumbing or metal lines and large appliances. It doesn't take much light to make it spin. The stand is minimal and I recommend removing the bottom brown protective tape to keep the stand looking clear. There are several versions but the relief map version shows surface texture like mountains and looked better in the gift shop than pictures online. I mounted a chrome led dimmable light from Amazon (see my review elsewhere) to make it spin in the evening when no sunlight is present. See picture. It may be pricey but there is nothing like it and just looks cool spinning on its own everyday.

The bese is simple to set up and the globe requires no installation - just light.
The light activated world globe is a conversation starter. Friends are surprised when then notice that the globe looks like it is suspended and spins. I love it!

Simple, elegant, believable
I looked into the levitating globes and chose this instead. It doesn't levitate, but its slow rotation, without batteries, is soothing and fascinating. It just keeps spinning with no intervention...just like the real Earth! It is too small to use as a reference globe, but it is a fine size for a desk ornament. It takes some thinking to figure out how it could possibly work, thus it makes a good conversation piece.I liked mine so much that I ordered one as a Christmas gift for a tech-savvy friend. He appreciated his as much as I did mine.

Years of desktop pleasure
I'm only just now getting to this review for some reason; I've had mine for several years now. It is stylish, very well made, and exponentially entertaining to watch. It is literally floating on the three clear pegs. The technology inside the sphere is smooth and flawless after all these years. Mine has traveled with me between several states, offices, and home desks. I'm at home watching it right now actually... very well made, durable and again, entertaining. I love mine.
