Are these cards the same material as the original deal cards?

The cards are a different design and they are a smidge smaller that cards in black box. We have played this game for years. We were wearing out our cards. Bought this new Blue box. Took it back to store. Cards smaller and with new design there was too much white on cards -- difficult to tell what cards were without fanning them out really far. I ordered black box from eBay (much easier to see cards). I called Hasbro and gave them my 2 cents worth!

My blue monopoly deal only has 2 hotels. Is this right for anyone else ?

Yes, that is right. 2 Hotel cards and 3 House cards. See the instruction page that comes with the deck of cards. There should be a list of all the cards for the game.

There is a green box and a blue box. Blue box is cheaper. Which is newer?

don't get the blue box! green box much easier to tell different between cards.
