The watercolor soaks into the 100% cotton making it easier to do layers and washes without the puddles.It is 230 gsm mixed media paper so it does buckle a little when doing watercolor alone, but not too bad.I haven't tried markers so I don't know if it will bleed through. There is no problem with my waterproof micro pens. The paper is thick.The size is perfect for sketches and since it's sewn together it's easy to go across the pages for larger landscapes. It is small enough to carry around but large enough for good sized sketches.The cover is white cloth so durability is questionable - it will probably start turning gray after a while of getting thrown into a backpack and going to all sorts of places. If you are very fastidious that might be a problem.Over all, it's a very nice sketchbook for the price. If you want something just to mess around in or try new techniques I would probably use something a little cheaper - I love this sketchbook for projects where I put into practice the stuff I learned in the cheaper sketchbooks.

The paper can handle a lot more water than other watercolor notebooks I've tried. Etchr is my go to sketchbook brand.

This is the sketchbook I started with when I first got into watercolor about a year ago. It's one of those sketchbooks where I just love everything I make in it, even if I'm just doing practice drills or testing out new paint colors. When I finished this one, Amazon was out of them, so I ended up trying other brands, and nothing has compared. I love the texture, I love the way the colors look in it, the way the water doesn't absorb right away. And I also love that you can customize the cover! I got the a5 portrait and feel like that was a very comfortable size for me to work in, especially in the small space I have on my desk. Anyway, I love everything about this sketchbook and really lucked out that it was the one I started with, since it really made me fall in love with watercolor. Highly recommended!

I love these sketchbooks... great paper and cover. I like that they offer hot press paper. But for the number of pages you get and the size... they're way overpriced. They take a good amount of wet for a sketchbook, but they do buckle. They're good, but I only consider buying when there's a great sale, otherwise, I would find something else!

Etchr coldpress Perfect Sketchbooks are my absolute favorite. I'm trying this hot press one for the first time to see how I'll like it. I have been doing more pen and wash lately so I think the hot press will work best for that. Other than the book coming already a little dirty on the outside, it seems to be in great condition. The binding looks good (I've had one fall apart before) so far and the paper is the great quality I expect from Etchr. I will update the review once I've used it more extensively.

The book is the size I ordered, opens widely for doing a two-page spread, and the paper feels nice.

this is my second purchase of this journal, it's one of my favorites. It hold water well for watercolor and is great for sketching as well.

Llego muy bien empaquetado y muy rápido, solo que adentro del plástico de la envoltura, estaba manchado. La tela de la portada estaba sucia en dos esquinas y por lo mismo solicité devolución. No lo abrí ni probé el producto así que no puedo decir sobre eso. El tamaño esta perfecto (A6) para personas que van iniciando y no saben con qué llenar la hoja.

I bought two of these sketchbooks, CP and HP, to understand the difference in the texture of the paper. So far I only used CP and am very happy with it. HP as expected has less texture.In my view, both, CP and HP, will be perfect for line and wash sketches and paintings.I've tried painting a watercolor landscape in the CP sketchbook and am very happy with the result. I've tried quite a few of my favorite techniques and all worked on this paper beautifully.The paper is white or I would even say extra white in my opinion and takes a fair amount of water. The book was nicely packed. It also lays flat. It was also sold at the best price I could find (for portrait etchr sketchbook sold in the UK) without the need to pay tax and purchase a bundle.My only criticism is the white canvas cover, which I expect to get dirty really quickly as I plan to carry it around. However, I've seen some videos where sketchers apply wax around the edges and they comment that this technique helps. I might try this on my sketchbooks.

Good quality water colour sketch book. Will buy again.

The hot press paper is extremely non absorbent, and takes hours and hours for even one layer of watercolor paint to dry. The paper buckles very easily, it feels not much better than regular heavier weight sketching paper, so not great for using both sides of a page. Ive worked with much better hot press paper and for the price I expected more. I love my other ETCHR products I have so I’m disappointed. Will be ok to use just as a (very expensive) drawing sketchbook though.
