in what order are dimensions stated?

Dimensions are - base 12cms wide by 17 cms deep. Riser - 30 cms, lamp - 29 cms long and 4 cms wide. Hope this helps. Variable light colour is nice but mine won't stay at the brightness setting it is put on - dims to about half brightness after a while.

Does this use usb as a power source

It comes with a three pin plug for power., has a night light which stays on and you can charge tech items using usb

Does the lamp work when unplugged?

The lamp is working fine. Haven't got any issue yet. To be honest it's just amazing.
