Great playability, "must have" STEM toy. Great for ages pre-K+, play to learn, homeschool
Magformers are a must have in any kid's play chest along with Legos. My 4y.o. has been playing with Magformers on a daily basis for almost two years. This is a great all around set with a variety of shapes for building all sorts of creatures, structures, and objects only limited by the imagination. The dinosaur designs in the booklet are easy enough for 4+ y.o. with some help, but if you find it too hard, just ignore it and play. Magformers make great gifts, are worthwhile, and fun for parent + child, family, and group play.Aside from being a great building toy, this set is good for teaching geometry as it has enough to build a number of different 2D and 3D shapes, some in multiple ways. Triangles can easily be used to form hexagons, the one shape that is missing. The magnets are fully encased inside so there is no safety risk of the magnets coming out, and they spin so polarity isn't an issue. Magformers are easier for toddlers to grasp and pull apart than MagnaTiles. Because of their rounded edges, Magformers do not stack quite as well as Magna Tiles but they have a greater variety of pieces for more versatility. This set contains:16 squares4 right triangles7 isosceles triangles4 rectangles4 diamonds/rhombi/parallelograms2 quarter circles7 equilateral triangles1 small arch2 small rectangles2 large arches2 pentagons4 sects2D geometric shapes: 5 and 6 point stars, hexagon, trapezoid, semi-circle, triangles (right, isosceles, and equilateral), rectangles, parallelograms and more.3D geometric shapes: pyramids (triangular to hexagonal), cube, cuboids (rectangular, parallelepiped), prisms, and more::jkBought this set for its shape variety to add to our collection, and another to give as a gift. Got a text the next day that it kept her 5 year old entertained for hours. They hold up very well, we haven't broken any in three years of almost daily play. With discretion 1+ years on larger shapes, 2+ years on smaller shapes. Was told by company office, they are BPA free. Store stacked up to preserve magnets.:: jk

My 6 yr old loves these magformers he plays with them everyday building new things each day hours of fun, so many things he has came up with to build blows my mind. It really opens his mind, he has been more creative since he has been playing with these. I have also played many hours with him and we have some much fun, They make him think and plan and use his mind to come up with new ideas. The best building toys out there. Great for the whole family

These could be considered in the same venue as legos but I really think better! The kids are enthralled for hours and play ...
I am not only writing this review for this set but for ALL the Magformers sets! I have bought several for three of my grand nephews and niece! These could be considered in the same venue as legos but I really think better! The kids are enthralled for hours and play with them every day! My niece actually took the Magformers to a summer STEM class and they were definitely the most popular of all the different kits they were able to use during free time! I do have to say, with the Magformers Dinosaur set if you have three children that want to build a dinosaur at the same time you will need more than one set. I plan to buy two more for Christmas so that they are all able to build a dinosaur4 at the same time. It is not only for the sake of building at the same time but I must say the more different pieces they have the more imagination they are able to utilize. And for all those that think that these are only for children....not true.....I love these things and am on the floor with the kids building away! Absolutely Magformers should be in every child's toy box. They are very durable and I expect them to last forever....well worth the high cost....my nephew in law said that the price point is probably where it is because of the laws regarding the specifications of the magnets. You will not be sorry if you buy any of the Magformers sets!!!!

Fun to model, not quite strong enough
My 5 year old loves these. It looks us a while to learn to add one magnet at a time to the stack when cleaning up so all of the magnets attract instead of repelling. The one complaint is that the magnets don't seem to be strong enough to support the weight of the larger builds. But if you lay them on their side, it works well. It's more about the process than the end product, so it's not really too bad. Still very fun.

Great for a variety of ages
Kids of all ages seem to love playing with Magformers (our kids range from 2 to 6). The dinosaurs all turned out pretty cute, except T-rex, who cannot stand well on his own. It seems that even when we CAN get him to stand alone, he'll fall over within a few minutes. By far the last stable of the figures you can build. The others all turned out nice, and the kids had fun building them, as well as just enjoying free play. We'll be investing in another set soon, I'm sure!

Fun Building Set!
The shapes are little complex for my almost 5yo to follow in the book, but we do together and it is fun.The pieces are really good quality and will lend themselves to free building shapes you imagine. When you step on these it doesn't hurt as bad as legos so I like them a lot better!

Dinosaurs!
My 7 year old grandson is obsessed with dinosaurs, so when I saw these I knew they would be perfect for him. He loves them. Downside is they are a bit heavy, and his dinosaurs don't always stand up, but he creates to his hearts content. Also, the directions seem to be easy to follow because he does not ask for my help.

Not convinced this is the better buy.
My mother bought this for our son for Christmas. He loves dinosaurs. He promptly built one dinosaur and then never looked back. The specialized pieces make it less compatible with the more generic parts.Quality parts though, definitely better than the off-brand stuff we bought to compliment it.Here is the thing though the Glough brand came with 177 (magnetic parts) for 90$ (254 pieces including random plastic add-ons and stickers)Not including those "extras", that's $0.51 a piece. Compared to this set at $1.20 per piece. Are these worth the extra cost? Will the off-brand last long enough while my kids are still interested in it? That's up to you.

Favourite thing I've bought for my boy.
My children all love these. We have many different shapes of the magnets. Then when we bought this for our son it opened up even more imagination and creativity. Comes with a great book to show you how to build each dinosaur. He's had it for 4 months now and not a day has gone by that he hadn't pulled these out to play with. Not even just to build dinosaurs, but whatever his imagination comes up with that day. Ages from 2-12. Let's them use their imagination to create whatever they would like. These magnets are worth every penny. Very durable and the magnet in them is fantastic!! Ever adults will sit an play with them. It's just that kind of toy that gets everybody interested.
