Revell of Germany U-Boat Typ VIIC/41 Plastic Model Kit

Looks great, just as you would expect. Heads up, this kit is for advanced users only; the instructions are very minimal. Very happy with the purchase

I purchased this to work on to relax. After scouring U-Boat.net I found out more information about the Type VIIC U Boat. I decided to build U-1004 because she sank tonnage and survived the war. The decals seemed to be too small in scale in relation to the boat, you can barely make them out on the sail. The hull fit together perfectly and the details were sharp and crisp. There were no real issues in assembling the model, but beware some of the parts for the guns are very small and can easily be lost if you should drop one.

Nice kit but many tiny parts. 144 scale is too small so if you can afford it, get the 1:72 scale. Also assembly instructions can be a challenge.If you take care and have patience you can have a great model.

easy to assemble

I have visited in person the U505 in Chicago’s Field Museum of Science and Industry. They also have a virtual tour of the boat on their website. The model is accurate for the TypeVII boat. I plan to scale it up in wood to about HO scale from the 1/144 scale. Both should look great.

Nice kit, easy build, reasonable fit and finish although most of the railings on the conning tower do not and would not fit correctly.

I was happy to see the kit show up. It took longer than I had expected. The model is made by a quality manufacturer and I expect that. I wasn’t expecting it to be as small as it was but it’s difficult due to not having over all measurements to make a proper estimate. The kit was a little pricey but I honestly I didn’t see large scale models. This is a average size for a ship model I’m sure that if I had looked into other sites I would have found what I was looking for in this price range.
