I’m a professional stylist, this color is great.
I’ve never written a review on Amazon EVER. this is my first. I’m a professional stylist and this color is just as good if not better than anything I can purchase professionally. The instructions are a bit juvenile but that shouldn’t detour you from using it. This color will stain your skin so be sure to wear gloves and apply vasoline around your hairline. This is Semi permanent so you don’t need a developer. I have found this last longer than most so called permanent hair colors. Be sure to choose the color you want because that’s the color you’ll end up with if your hair is prelightened. If you’re unsure about the color and how bright it is do a strand test If you find the color is a bit bright for you add it to conditioner, you will need a little water as well. Shake up the color conditioner, and water until mixed well. If you’re using this method I’d probably leave it on for 2+ hours with a shower cap. To make sure you’ve reached the level of color you want do a strand rinse test, if it’s not the color you want leave it on longer or add more color to the conditioner mix. This color is very pigmented and will last a good 2* months with normal washing and a good sulfate, paraben shampoo. A low poo works best on color treated hair.If you want to remove the color buy some vitamin C powder and add equal amounts of it to a harsh shampoo like Prell or Head and shoulders apple scent. Leave on for 30-45 min rinse repeat if you want more color taken out. Also rinse hair with cold water after coloring. This will help lock in the color. Hope this review will help some budding home stylist have fun with hair color and not be afraid to try a big bold color.

I'm a big fan.
I'm a stereotypical greying Gen-Xer who started using semi-permanent colors as a pandemic hobby. The best product was Special Effects, which sadly went out of business, so I was buying up old stock on eBay. This one reminds me a lot of SE: it's thick, it doesn't drip or gloop, there's a lot of color payoff, it covers grey well. Rinsed out well (and I didn't stain the sink). I don't think it's quite as conditioning as SE, however.A few notes: I only dye the top and front of my head, one, because I am chintzy and I want to get a lot of uses out of one bottle; two, because that's where my greys are so that's most noticeable; and three, I like the mix of natural brown + color. (I've even been told it "looks cool.") (OK, I was told that by a homeless guy outside CVS, but it counts.) I use a brush, do small sections, twist them up and pin them, and leave it on for an hour or so. After rinsing out, I use conditioner only.Pictured is Live Laugh Love (what is with that name?? I hope it's ironic) over basically virgin hair, however, my greys were a bit yellowed from my last color. (I adjusted the photo to get the most accurate representation.) This was taken on day five after a second co-wash, and I didn't notice any color going down the drain.I'll definitely buy this brand again. It costs a bit more, but one tube will probably last me five shots since I don't use a whole lot at once.

Best dye on the market!
I am a diehard Good Dye Young user. I make a custom mix for my hair color of this (Kowabunga) and Steal My Sunshine (yellow), and it turns out perfect every time. The color is potent but doesn't stain my skin, it's vivid and lasts through TONS of washings (with a colorsafe shampoo) and I am always getting compliments on it. I've also tried Riot (orange) and both Kowabunga (green) and Steal My Sunshine (yellow) independently with the same vivid and long lasting results. This stuff is the best box dye on the market that I've found -- and I've dyed my hair many colors by many brands. I recommend this stuff to everyone. Also it smells SOOOOO GOOD. I've not had any issues with tub stains either. I really can't sing high enough praises of this brand.

Contains formaldehyde!
This product is advertised as being formaldehyde free, and I specifically bought this hair dye because of that. I am severely allergic to formaldehyde and I am always looking for formaldehyde-free products. I as very excited to find this, despite some of the poor reviews, because most hair dyes do contain formaldehyde and they cause me to develop severe rashes. When I go the dye and read the label I saw that this product contains Methylchloroisothiazolinone and Methylisothiazolinone which are TWO formaldehyde-releasing preservatives so anyone who is allergic to formaldehyde will be allergic to this product. I am working with amazon to get my money back for these products.

Worked great for me, a DREAD head who didn’t bleach!
Loved it! I added this to my dreads. I have super super thick hair with dreads I’m talking I can’t even wrap my hand around my ponytail. So I bought two bottles. My dreads are pretty short so two was enough but for someone with longer dreads I’d recommend three bottles. I decided on red because I’m not a huge fan of bleaching my dreads just a personal preference. I did have bubblegum pink hair about two years ago so my ends are a shade or so lighter than my roots from when they were bleached. we’re leaving me with a bit of darken kind of dingy color in my roots that easy could’ve been taken away with bleaching but I didn’t want to. Now I say roots. With dreadlocks my hair is half as long as it used to be so two years of growth is still roots. The smell was amazinggg I’m a huge fan of lemon and citrus. I use tangerine essiential oil in my hair once every few weeks to freshen up like a perfume almost. Dreads are great at holding smells in (yes I do wash regularly I’m not that kind of person). Overall I’m super happy. It definitely lives up to its semi permanent name and doesn’t stain nearly as much as other hairdyes like manic panic. I was able to achieve a super virbrant color without any bleaching and I couldn’t be happier about it! I will definitely be buying this product again! I also posted before and after so you can judge how light my natural blonde is. The photo in the straw hat is after about 2 weeks so yes it does wash out fast it is semi permanent haha. Also, I colored over pink bangs and it worked just fine, but I would recommend a bleach wash or using a harsher deep clean shampoo on super pigmented hair as most of my pink was gone, it wasn’t necessary. I know this was a lot of info, but I couldn’t find any info on dread heads using this product before, so hopefully I can help someone out!
