Perfect size
I bought the vitamix years ago when it was selling with the 64 oz container. I didn't like that it didn't fit on counter under the cabinets. A few years ago I found that I could buy it from QVC for $50!!! I waited too long and they stopped carrying it. So now I paid $150!!! But I'm enjoying using my vitamix with the 48 oz so much more. I'm a single person and the 64 oz was just too big.

I love the settings - turn it on and walk away!
I replaced my 10-12 year old Vitamix with the Vitamix Ascent . It seemed like such a splurge, but as I use it every day at least once, it's a no-brainer so long as it holds up as long as my old one. It is BPA-FREE which is important. The only reason I gave up on my old was was that i mindlessly took the lid off while blending & insereted the plunger which got shredded. The motor was never the same, although it did function. Out of warranty, I'll pass it on to someone else who can pay for the repair. I was ready for an upgrade.I bought the smaller 48 oz. container (my old one isn't a match for the Ascent) as I'm generally making a smoothie for one person. I hear the larger container doesn't blend as well if there's not enough volume inside. The 64 oz container is collecting dust in the basement. Sadly, you have to buy the 48oz container separately. Ding for that.I didn't know how much I would really like the programmable settings. It's my FAVORITE feature. I don't have to babysit my smoothie and adjust the speed; I just press the button and do my kitchen clean up, get a glass on the counter, and POUR! BOOM!1) SMOOTHIE setting:I add a touch more water than recipes call for so it doesn't get stuck. It handles frozen fruit well, leafy greens, salad smoothies - YES!2) SPREADS setting:Hummus does pretty good - I add a bit more olive oil to keep it moving.3) CLEAN Setting:I squirt a few drops of dish soap with a half carafe of water & turn it on if I've been blending something with oil or onion or other strong flavor; again, it turns itself off when finished.3) MANUAL SELECT SETTING with the BLENDING BOWl:A) Great for chopping nuts.B) I used the smaller 1 cup Blending Bowl to make a mixture of soaked dates, cocoa and cashews for "truffles", it stalled a lot; I had to unscrew it 6-8X to reduce the amount of mixture at one time. I may see what happens if I use the mid-size container. However...4) I LOVED their scraper tool to remove the sticky yummy truffle mix. A spendy piece of plastic, but it scrapes under the tines and the sides of the larger containers really well. It gets a fair amount of use surprisingly.5) DRY INGREDIENTS CONTAINER:I used this for flax seeds to turn them into flax meal - PERFECT! So much cheaper and fresher than buying it at a store. I will try it in the smaller Blender Bowls & see how that goes. So, after a few months of daily dedicated use, I'm a fan of the Ascent; given the programmable settings & the options to add Smart Accessories like the smaller Blending Bowls... worth the extra. I'd do it again. No regrets.

For Smoothies.. THIS is what you WANT!
Ok so if you got your Vitamix for smoothies.. THIS is what you were actually thinking of when you saw all of the reviews about how great these blenders are for smoothie making!I wish they would have offered a choice of containers with these blenders..Yes you can make smaller batches with this but more importantly, even larger smoothies are FAR better made by this.. the shape is far superior on this for smoothies in general and it blends so much easier and quicker.I make the same exact smoothie many times a week and with the original larger container I would nearly always have to use the tamper.. so when I made my first big smoothie with this thing I got it ready.. and have never needed it once.. so much better of a design on this!I wish they would stop trying to appeal to people who want to have a fully assembled vitamix under your cabinets and just make the larger containers this shape like they do on the older original models. The large container fits under the cabinets too.. but it’s not like you can load them under the cabinet so what is the point of caring if it fits there all the time!?

... came with the 64 oz wet container which is wonderful for making soups and larger portions
My vitamix came with the 64 oz wet container which is wonderful for making soups and larger portions, but way to big for making a smoothy for one or two people, so I ordered this 32 oz wet container on amazon.com. It works perfectly! No issues at all. Since it is so much smaller than the 64 oz container, I dont think it really needs the rubber grip on the handles.I prefer this less bulky feel. Also, it is very easy to clean. Just fill with a couple drops of dish soap and warm water and then blend, empty and rinse as the directions say. Very easy!I did get a small spatula to reach the bottom near blades. Any recipe left at bottom comes out easly with the smaller spatula.I was worried it might be wobbly on base as some people have mentioned. True it doesn't sit on the base as snug as larger container does, but it is still secure enough and works just fine. No problems at all with it tipping or wobbling. I am so glad I purchased this smaller container. It does notcome with a tamper, but since I did get a tamper with my 32 oz dry container, I did not need to purchase another one. I have an 18 inch backslash, but my kitchen cabinets only allow 17 inch clearance due to the extra trim work at bottom of our cabinets. Sigh… So, I have to tilt the container a bit in order to store it on top of my vitamix 7500 G series machine. Not the companies fault since it does say 18" clearance needed. For the most part, I don't store too much on my counter tops so I don't mind putting the container in a cupboard.

Enjoy the smaller sized blender
Great alternative to the 64 oz blender container. It's much smaller and leads to less waste and over consumption of smoothies. Cleaning around the base of the blade is a challenge but overall it's a great substitute for the larger container. I would like a smaller more compact one but this was the next best thing

Works perfectly
The vitamix I bought from Costco came with a large wide bottom pitcher that didn't work for making small batches of thicker stuff like cashew cream and vegan cheeses. Since this is one of the main reasons I bought it, I needed a smaller pitcher with a narrower base like the classic vitamix models. I ended up ordering this one for those recipes and it works great.
