What's the recommended amount of players for this game? I have a party of roughly 18 adults

18 adults too much. I played with 6 girls aged 10+ and was just fine.

Would this work for a 12 year old girls party with more than 8 (say 10 or 12 of them?)

By age - yes they'll be fine solving the puzzles on their own but I'm not sure about the group size as there isn't that much to actually do at any one time and there aren't enough puzzles to do one each. I suppose it depends on how good they are at teamwork and how much fun they'll have giving instructions I played with a seven and eight year old and they were arguing over who did what and who did more of the "physical" solving between the two of them.
