This is one of two that I can tolerate. I love the clean, fresh scent of 4711, it's proper (German) name is Kolnishe Wasser, but it's always known by the translated name into French, Eau de Cologne. Whoever said 4711 is for old ladies, well yea maybe it is, cos I'm an old lady, but I've used 4711 since my teens and each time someone gets a whiff of me they say I bring back childhood memories of their grans. Not a lasting scent, but not expensive so can be used liberally as and when you need a quick spritz. I am not keen on the odour either, to me it smells like a typical “old cologne”, very musty! However, my lady has used it for many many years, so she obviously likes it.
