As expected.
This product is as shown in the advertisement and works as expected. You could easily make your own like a jig, out of wood, but for twenty bucks it’s better to just buy one. The product is well machined from a nice aluminum casting, anodized red, and the stainless steel rod fits well enough, if a bit loosely. There is an equally well-machined brass screw knob to hold the rod in place. The brass on stainless steel means the screw won’t mark up the rod each time you tighten it. The tips of the rod are appropriately rounded to prevent damage to a machine fence, so overall the quality of manufacture is good. You’d probably only need something like this if you have an old table saw (like a 1980s era Delta/Rockwell) with a fence that won’t consistently stay square, unlike more modern fences, or if you have some other reason to be checking your fence position regularly to insure straight, non-burning cuts. It works for that. There is a negative design feature to mention, which is the two plastic split washers that are supposed to take-up slop in the the miter slot in the tool table. A screw-into-countersink arrangement expands the split washer to tighten the fit in the miter slot. This works, but it’s awkward and the protruding washers prevent the jig from entering the miter slot from above. You’re forced to thread it into the slot from either end, which is time-consuming and annoying. The aluminum bar that fits the miter slot mics out at .750 exactly, like most aluminum jig bars, so the feature isn’t necessary in most cases. A couple of nylon set screws to take up slop would be easier, and would work better than the complexity of the split washers thing. I’m planning to remove the washers and drill/tap the side of the aluminum bar for nylon set screws, so I can place the jig in the slot from anywhere above. There are no instructions that accompany the product, and no manufacturer is identified either on the product or the packaging, only “Made in China”. The machining is good, so China is fine with me. If you need something like this to align your machine fences, then this is a good one.

Short rod
It would be useful for alignment if the rod was longer. It fits nice and snug on rails but too short for anything else.

Simple design and gets the job done
There's not much to say. It fits snugly in the miter slot and allows me to check the gap to the blade or fence. If you want to be more accurate, you can place a thickness gauge between the rod and blade/fence. There's more accurate options out there with a dial, but I found them to be more finicky. This is a simple design and gets the job done.
