Excellent boots but my foot or the material of this shoe changed, get wide if necessary!
I think as we get older maybe our feet get wider? I have worn these merrell boots in various colors over the years but always the same size, regular width. Well, this time, the regular ones squished the heck out of my feet! The wide ones work perfect. I am a size 8 or 8.5 and an 8.5 wide fit me perfect. I wear thick wool socks with these and have no issues with bruising or blisters. Excellent grip, feels like walking on clouds, the colors are pretty, they are cute enough to wear to work (depending on your job), and they are incredibly durable. One pair typically lasts me 2-3 years but I am ROUGH on my boots. I walk through streams, mud, kick doors open, etc. These are great boots.I originally purchased this color grey and teal in 8 wide since they didn't have it in 8.5 but it was a tiny bit too small in the toes with my thick socks on, so I went up to 8.5 and they fit perfect. The falcon color is actually very pretty in person so I'm not mad about it.

Super comfortable!
Excellent boots for hiking. Extremely comfortable and sturdy. I don't think they are really "waterproof" but they do resist water in small amounts -- not for walking through streams, etc. I suggest going to the larger size if you're indecisive. They are roomy and have a good sized toe-box, but if you want to thicken up on socks, size it up. You can always cinch down when you tie it to get a tighter fit. I bought a pair of low-tops, too.

Excellent Quality
Fantastic hiking boots! Great support all around my feet and ankles. Some reviewers have noted a “hard bump/lump” and found it uncomfortable. The arch support in the boots are exactly where they need to be, so I do not find them uncomfortable. For reference, I wear a size 5.5 M width in Nike Women’s running shoes and I ordered the 5.5 M width in the hiking boots. I tried them on with the yoga/pilates socks since I was already wearing them when I opened the box. I did not find it uncomfortable or tight, they feel nice. I can get thinner socks if I want a little more room, but the fit is perfect and I do not anticipate blisters since my feet will not slide around inside the boots. I find the toe bed comfortable, too. Not tight at all! I am extremely pleased with this purchase.I purchased my husband the same model boots, in Men’s and the sizing was correct for him, as well. He loves his boots for the same reasons I indicated above. He has also noted that he feels he stands up straighter and his posture is better when wearing his boots.Overall all, very comfortable, extremely well made, excellent quality, excellent soles, and made to last.

great hiking boots, all around performer
After having this pair for a year I remain very happy for the overall performance. i have used them for several hiking trips (8 hours the longest) in dry and wet weather. They are comfortable, steady and kept my feet dry. The boot is strong but still light enough to walk for a long time. At times, gravel/sand will get into shoes. The problem is fixed by a pair of ankle gaiters.

Run small!
It’s true that they run small. I’m a 71/2 and my toes touch the top of them. I hiked a pretty steep mountain with lots of mud and rocks. They slipped and I almost sprained my ankle a couple of times but I’m not sure if any shoe or boot would work for those kinds of environments. They are comfortable but my heel was getting sore . They are flat with not too much arch support. I have a regular arch. It was in the 80’s when I hiked and my feet sweated pretty badly with smart wool socks on. Not sure if I recommend them honestly.

Best shoes ever
I bought the boots for an Iceland trip in June. The best preparation I have done. We ran into two days of heavy rain and strong wind, climbing rocky terrain, shopping on the regular street, long walk every day. I was concerned at first because I didn’t have time to break in but so please to find that it is the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned. The toe box is wide enough for the large bunion and the support is just right. The waterproof must be decent because my feet were dry even in the down pouring rain. I bought the regular width at size 7.5. and now I have to buy for my family.

Great fit
I hike about 100 miles a month. I have bunions. So I am very particular about the shoes I wear. These boots had NO break in time. They were comfortable from the moment I put them on. I have had them for over 16 months and they are still in great shape and still very comfortable. I just bought another pair on Prime day.

Perfect Comfortable Supportive Fit
I 'only' wear Merrell hikers because I am a difficult fit. I am a long-time mountain hiker. I've worn Merrell for about 30 years. They continue to offer great, well-made shoes. I don't believe in having to 'wear in' your shoes. They should fit properly right from the first day. The fit is perfect, I love that I can get many varieties in the Wide Width. Pricing is not the cheapest, but it's worth to spend a few extra dollars to get a good shoe. That being said, they are also not the most expensive. You can get a great shoe for the money.
