For the price a good learning kit
This is a good teaching kit for a child that is interested about codes and passing information back and forth. It does lack the information about when cyphers were used and for what. I did gift it with a book about spies during the revolutionary war.

Smaller than expected
This came and was much smaller than expected. My daughter received it for Christmas and was excited, we will see how it holds up!

good learning for toddlers
A child interested in coding and exchanging information would benefit from this instructional package. It does not provide information on the purposes and dates of cypher usage.

Small and not simple for a young child to use.
These items are extremely small and are not high quality. The cipher disks are not perforated at the right place, so when you punch them out, the letters on the inner cipher wheel are cut off and difficult to read. The pieces are very small and will be easy to lose. I do like that it all comes in a nice tin. Chalk was broken into three tiny, nearly unusable pieces. Sticky note in picture for scale only.

Too tiny
I did not expect this tin to be so tiny. He used it but it was just so tiny .

Cute
The kit itself is a lot smaller than I had expected ,this would make it great for a stocking stuffer. I got this for my son's 11th birthday and he loves it! He was able to use it easily and made all kinds of secret messages with it.

Great idea to get kids excited about ciphers and secret codes, too bad it is really cheaply made.
I really liked the idea to engage kids into thinking critically, solving ciphers and secret coding. This kit is so flimsy that I am afraid that this kit will fall apart almost immediately. Everything is made so cheaply. The only good thing about it, is that it got me thinking and I made myself a much sturdier kit that kids can handle without fear of breaking everything. The idea of this kit is great. I would not recommend this cheaply made product for kids unless they are closely supervised.
