Dependable
This has been mostly used for a trip to Nepal, it was a pleasure to use, and I imagine the main factor in keeping my completely healthy for 6 weeks.I used it everyday for almost all of my water and I changed the batteries once. A great little thing if mineral water is hard to come by, its helped me out many a time when I have needed just a little water to brush my teeth, but cant be bothered to go out and find a shop!Alternatives to this (things that kill viruses as well bacteria) are not terribly convincing, this is completely chemical free, and my tongue and general well being appreciate that.I used it after filtering the water beforehand with a homemade gravity filter, as the water must be fairly clear to remain effective. The only thing I would like to see improved is the strength of the led light which indicates the UV bulb is on; It can be a little difficult to see in direct sunlight, it is possible though, you may need to use your body to create a shadow. So not a massive issue!

Ideal travel companion
My wife and I carried one of these, along with two wide-mouth Nalgene bottles, while travelling in the Far East, as we didn't want to be dependent on bottled water. Each day, we would fill up from a tap, give it a blast with the pen and off we went. While others on our trip suffered from nasty doses of diarrhoea, my wife and I were spared.

Brought to replace a older model and I have used ...
Brought to replace a older model and I have used this extensively on hikes in Ireland and multi-day treks overseas. I use this in conjunction a 1 litre Nalgene water bottle and a Steripen filter to collect and sterilise drinking water (which is then transferred to our drinking bladders). I store the pen in Nalgene bottle when not is use.

Travelled the world and did not get sick once!
Great to have in moments of uncertainty. I have coupled this with a bottle water filter to be on the extra safe side. When it comes to health, then there should be no compromise. South America, Africa, Asia, Spain :) and the US. It has helped in situations when water was nasty.

Piece of mind device, but make sure the battery cover is on well as otherwise it leaks!
Good item, let down by a slightly clumsy sealing arrangement. I obviously did not tighten mine up enough which resulted in water being visible inside the 'bulb'. Dried out in airing cupboard, and works fine, but make sure the battery compartment is fully sealed before use!

Compact an easy to use
Bought this item before going for a survival adventures to west America states. It's very easy to use, just need to make sure that gloving pen is all time in the water while gloving- some steering movements may cause it to stop water treating process. I do believe that this water purifier kills most of harmful bacteria in the water, but you never can be sure and you are in situation that you have to relay on it. And water has to be very clean to do this process! If you're on the move and you get some clean water to collect in a jar, you can use it surely it will work, but if you can boil water I would recommend to boil the water and you'll be sure that it's definitely purified. BUT DON'T FORGET THAT IN BOTH WAYS YOU STILL NEED TO FILTER WATER, BEFORE DRINKING IT
