My MacBook Pro won't recognize the mic. My audio interface and headphones are fine and I'm guessing the cable XLR is too. Any suggestions?

I hate to answer a question with a question, but do you have 48v phantom power going to the mic? If all else is good, that may be the issue. Condenser mics need phantom power to work.

What is it tuned for voice or loud noises such as percussion can I use it for both well?

This is tuned for vocals, drums, electric guitar, piano, & acoustic instruments.

Does this mic newd phantom power?

Yes. It will not work without it. That is the case for, as far as I know, every condenser mic.
