YouTubeチャンネルexurb1aのビデオに感動して本書を速攻で買いました。本作は完全SFで脳以外の物質が意識を持ちうるか、という命題を、タイトルにある第五の科学として設定しており、その世界観に沿って12の作品が収録されています。それぞれ単体で読めますが同じ世界線で起こっていることなので一つの作品として見ることもできます。全編通して非常におもしろく哲学的な問いも含まれており読み応えがあります。物理学の単語や造語も多く一周しただけではなかなか理解の及ばないところがありますが、また読み返したいと思わせる魅力があります。

I bought this week ago and it launched me back into reading. I planned on it lasting me more than 2 days, but it was too good. I appreciate the short story style and the way the reader sees the universe ramping up etc. It gives it good re-readability, the second time reading it was even better when I had a better knowledge of what was going on. As well as the fact that you don't have to read the stories in order (on the second reading). Definitely got my money out of it.I'm disappointed your other books aren't available paperback. I just finished your misery was video too, I'm sad how fast the books got found.I also love the little funny stuff scattered around the book. Gave me a good laugh, and reminded me I was reading your book.Keep writing.
