A good all rounder with a couple of foibles
A foil shaver works best for me so I have gone back to one having used rotary for years. Remington has quite a good name and this is a mid-range machine in the Remington portfolio. The shaver foils give a good close shave and pretty quickly hoovers up all the bristles. So far so good. However, the battery could last a bit longer I feel and when putting it on charge you need to double check that it is connected otherwise you could come back an hour later to find that it has just been sitting there without getting on with the job. The foil protection cover comes off far too easily. That is a design fault. The shaver comes with a cleaning brush but do not let the brush go anywhere near the foil. It will ruin it I promise you and the temptation is great because the bristles collect at the ends. To clean the cutting heads etc no doubt Remington will have a cleaning fluid costing a small fortune for a few milliliters but I knock out most of the debris and give the heads a couple of squirts of 99% isopropyl alcohol. You can buy a litre of the stuff on line for less than £10 and can use it for 101 other jobs such as giving a squeaky clean finish to your camera or phone, computer, CDs, torch lens, the windows of your house etc. I am told it is also good for cleaning delicate equipment such as electronics but I have not tried that.

Disappointed but now delighted
I have used Remington shavers for 50 years and am disappointed by the performance of this model. I was previously using a Remington MS2 300 model for about the last 15 years. The battery no longer worked but from the mains it was a much quicker and closer shave than the new one. Shaving takes too long and is not close enough.I seem to get three of four shaves before the display tells me the battery is low and needs recharging. If you use the trimmer it seems to run down the battery very quickly. 20 seconds of trimmer use takes 20 minutes off the battery charge. On the plus side it is easy to clean under a running tap.Since writing this review the battery life deteriorated even further. One shave then recharge. I complained direct to Remington who sent me a new F8 shaver by return. Obviously the original one was faulty. The new one is excellent. A close shave and probably 14 shaves before it needs a recharge. I would buy another. Excellent customer relations.

It is a good quality shaver.
Very good price over the cost of standard wet shaving. First time out a bit rough still, however, you need to grow out a wet shave beard, then use it as it should be used. Perfect finish and smother than a standard wet razor. The Remington F7 is approx £42, the cost comparison over a year:Remington F7 no extra cost.Standard wet razor blades £195.50 on current prices for a5 blade top brand. No contest. Remington wins and you get a smooth shave at no extra cost. Highly recommended, be patient and save quickly. Easy to charge, Very efficient shaving at cheaper cost and just as good as any wet shaver. But this one does both..best of both worlds.

Fast and close, and the right price
A*. Well done Remington! This is a reasonably priced razor (£49.99 here on Amazon) which shaves both fast and close. But that's not all; the travel of the foil over the skin is really smooth, which was a welcome novelty. The build quality is excellent and it just looks great too, not to mention the nice digital battery display. This is a top quality product, excellent on all the important points. I could deduct half a star for the stand and the way the charging cable protudes from the side (it sticks out a long way, see picture), but hey, at least it's got a stand (many don't), and it's a folding stand too if you happen to need that feature. But these are minor points - this quality as this price deserves the full 5 stars.

Hardly enough power for a decent shave from full charge
I wanted to like this shaver because I have used Remmingtons for more years than I'm prepared to admit. This one is just really dissapointing. Possibly I just got a bad one. From full charge it feels like it has barely enough power for a decent shave. When the display gets to 40 mins remaining, it drops to 30 within a minute then to Low a minute later. It is supposed to give 1 hour shaving. It says that the 2 cutter and 2 foil head makes shaving quicker. Possibly because of the lack of power my experience is that it takes longer. The head is too big so it doesn't fit the contours of your face like the 2 foil 1 cutter heads. This was a bad purchase and would make me think twice about buying a premium Remmington again.

Disappointingly poor
Being a well recognised brand, I had high hopes for this shaver. Right from the first shave I found it difficult to get a nice close shave amd having to go over certain areas multiple times (and I mean quite a lot of times) to get it to cut properly. This meant that it left me with sore, tender skin. That's nothing I've experienced with any other shaver. To add some context, my facial hair isn't particularly thick. I never grow a beard and always keep stubble down to a minimum but this shaver was still very, very poor. I was even resorting to using the sideburn shaver before using the main head, just so I could get a close enough cut. It still left lots or areas where it would not cut the hair down. The shaver was constantly snagging at my hairs too. I persevered for around 6 months but I'd had enough and it's gone in the bin. I gave it 2 stars instead 1 because the battery life was good and the overall design was quite nice, with a well shaped grip on it. As an actual shaver though, it leaves a lot to be desired and I wouldn't recommend it.

Remington Shaver
After using the shaver on a fully charged battery it shows a low battery although you can continue to use. Battery indicator is not reliable. The shaver is not as good as my previous Remington shaver. If honest I’m very disappointed
