Silly thing keeps going into lower power mode & ejecting itself. making it useless. i've tweaked my mac settings to keep it from sleeping, etc. ideas?

I hate to say this but the problem may be with Apple. I have a 3 month old 12.0TB OWC Mercury Elite Pro Dual RAID that does the exact same thing. I think it's almost impossible for two drive manufacturers to have the exact same issue. It has to be APPLE.

How easy is it to swop out drives and rebuild Raid 1?

Physically removing and installing is simple The hard part is getting the required extra trays. I haven't found any but I stopped lookin some time ago.

How can i connect this to an older imac using a thunderbolt 1 input. i ordered the apple adapter and can’t. seem to get it to work.

Sorry this will not work. The actual interface on the drive is USB-C and that will not work with a Thunderbolt adapter. Many hard drives such as this that have the USB-C interface will put "Thunderbolt 3" in the description, and what that means is that the drive will work with a Thunderbolt 3 port on computer since Thunderbolt 3 is compatible with USB-C. But not being an actual Thunderbolt 3 port on the drive, the Thunderbolt adapter will not work to connect to older Thunderbolt 1/2 ports on computers.

Hi, If you configure a drive for RAID 1 then the usable capacity becomes half of the actual capacity of the volumes due to redundancy and protection of data. Kind regards, Dev Seagate Support.
