There were no problems
I needed a good cutting board - finally a real good one - not the bamboo stuff.John Boos was all over the reviews and it had the exact size I needed. However, there were a lot of negative reviews about cracks, so I was reluctant and looked at the competition for more than twice the price. I decided to take the chance with Boos.It arrived at freezing temperatures, outside the door. I SLOWLY acclimatized it in the basement and once at room temperature I oiled and waxed it every day for a week ... followed by at least once a week.(the oil/wax came a few days later - I bought some mineral oil at the drug store for the mean time)You know, when you love something you put a bit of extra effort into it, I would say!Now ... there is not the slightest problem ... it's the best cutting board I ever had.I cannot speak for the ones who had bad experiences ... it worked for me. (with a little concern how wood reactsto temperature and humidity changes)This the best cutting board I ever had and the cherry is kind to my expensive knives.Cheers

I love it!
This is a total upgrade from any other cutting board. It’s sturdy and It creates a big space for cutting multiple different fruits and veggies.. it also has an inner grip for easy transporting.. if you do a lot of cooking and cutting it’s just the board for you. You won’t regret it.

Quality control?
My third Boo board has frankly bewildered me. Crevasses along the wood joints (both sides), sharp edges on corners, and a overall surface texture that kept grabbing the dish cloth. After a few days of mineral oil and “massaging” the cutting surfaces, I had to break out the orbital sander and finish the product by hand. I’ve started the new oiling process. What ever happened to quality control? This can’t be the new normal Boo boys.

Beautiful well made cutting board
I definitely recommend getting the Mystery Oil and the Board Cream to keep this cutting board looking beautiful. My son (the Chef) was drooling over it. He said Boos is revered in his industry. I was a little concerned when I read the reviews about the board splitting as I have had cutting boards do this before. I am glad I ordered it anyway as the workmanship is flawless and I think as long as I take care to keep the wood from drying out it will last me for years to come (and then I will hand it down to my son). :)

A beautiful and practical addition to my kitchen
Purchased the 20x15 cherrywood board. It is a joy to use and looks great! Most of the cracked/warped photos in negative reviews that I see here look awfully dry. Mine arrived appearing a little dry, especially on the bottom side. I imagine the factory oil degrades while the blocks sit on a warehouse shelf waiting for sale. I was initially very generous with the Boos oil/cream until the wood appeared very well oiled.I plan on keeping excess water/liquids away from the board as much as practical, always cleaning with salt/lemon wedges as recommended by the manufacturer, NEVER rinsing it in the sink, and keeping up with oil/cream applications at the recommended intervals. I doubt there will ever be an issue with cracking or warping.Update 4/23/23. - It’s going strong. Buy one already and you won’t regret it.
