There are a couple things to take into consideration. If the mic is pointed directly towards you when clipped on the screen, it will have a better chance of picking up the audio. It will also depend how far you are from the laptop. Lav mics typically work best when the are within 1 foot of the audio source. While your voice may be in range when clipped to the laptop, it may not be close enough to get a clear recording. It would work best if clipped to your clothing, pointed up towards your voice.
