Are these a comfortable material on the inside?

Yes! They are not slick on the inside. They are soft. My top favorite legging of all time (and I have worn lululemon). I prefer these over the Spanx version because they are more comfortable- not as suck you in tight- these are flexible yet hold you in, too. I know this was more than you asked. But... try them! ha

I am 5'10", 185 lb, would the Large fit?

I wear a size 12 and got the large…returned because they were too tight. Size up for sure if you want any type of flex to these!

The waistband does not roll down, but I would not compare these to Spanx. They are not nearly as compressive.
