Great, Fantastic, Informative, Useful, Quality, Much Expanded and WAY THICKER!!
I love this Book. This edition is way thicker than the 28th was, and more so even than 29, which was an Anniversary Issue. Luckily I usually skip a couple editions each time it's time to repurchase. And boy am I glad I didn't get the 29th!!! This is the BIBLE as far Machinery's Handbook editions are concerned. There really is a wealth of new/re-included information in this volume. I use my Machinist Calculator a lot, but sometimes, whilst drinking coffee, and sitting at the bench, there's just something special about leafing though the ol bible and and doing things the old analog way. Also, to me it feels somewhat precious, and even though the book may be used by dirty people, in a dirty place, the reverence for keeping it pristine is palpable and enjoyable. But I digress. As far as, should I buy one for the first time?If I was buying one for the first time, I'd be glad to get this one. Especially for the price for which I got it, 63 dollars with shipping from Rainbow_Books, you can not beat that with a Baseball Bat anyday of the week that'sa great deal!!! IF it's available to you from Rainbow_books and it's 59 dollars plus shipping, BUY IT! I bought from them, more than once now, and they are quick, the item arrives relatively well packaged, and mine was totally new and pristine, so. DO IT.

Regularly used by this Mechanical Engineer
If you work in a machine shop, or are a mechanical engineer, you need one of these on your shelf. This is the small version, so beware that the print is small and pages thin, which is the only way this isn't a monster. I use this regularly to either verify design items, or quickly reference application of standards. It's also a great place to find standard practice. This book provides a more solid basis for information than the internet, and is easier than going back to look up standards for simple confirmations of knowledge (does not replace actual standards based research).

Great reference. Constantly use it.
Review that matters:I am a mechanical engineer by trade. One of my coworkers had this at their desk and I constantly found myself borrowing it so I finally got my own. This is a great reference in a very convenient package. The built in tabs are very nice to have. my coworkers did not have them so they were sticky noting tons of pages (not that you wont find yourself doing that on this version either).Something that doesn't actually matter, but I still have an opinion on:Lame cover design. Feels like the Guinness book of world records. Almost bought an old version when it had the nice leather bound covers. Hopefully this one is more durable than I think it will be since I will probably get a lot of use out of it and don't plan on replacing it.

It's the Magical Book of Awesome.
For anyone who's doing anything mechanical this is a handy reference to have at hand to make sure you do the job right.Even better is it also has all the reasoning and information used to create the tables you use for reference so you can understand not just the what but the why. As my coworker put it yesterday, "Hey can you pull out your magical book of awesome."

The definitive book on machining. Small text
Awesome book with incredible amount of information. Unfortunately, the text is very small in this version. I'm young and good eyesight so I can read it fairly easy but I still find it annoying. If your eyesight is at all compromised, I would look for a bigger text edition.

Purchased for a friend
Bought this for a good friend who is majoring in physics at a university. At some point, I told him, he'd need this to help him interface with the physical world. (He already has the CRC Handbook of Physics and Chemistry, so that wasn't a possibility) I decided on print rather than electronic or a combination; for people like him and me this is entertaining reading and the print version leads to stumbling into new information whenever you open it. There's really no replacement for this book: If your passion or profession or just interests run into machine tools, processes, materials, etc., you owe yourself a new or used copy.

awsome
awsome condition keep in mind if you have bad eyes you may need a book with bigger wordings or a magnifying glass for this book but was more than i hoped for very good quality pages an printing as well i found no flaws like everyone is saying online unless my book is one that has been revised witch it doesn’t say so very well worth it you don’t have to pay 200$ for the other books unless you want the bigger text
