Check fiber content, which varies by color
In the manufacturing process, in many garments, fiber content may vary by color. I used to visit garment manufacturers in Los Angeles, and changes in fiber content between colors of the same style is not unusual, so keep an eye on that if that’s important to you, because fiber content may vary by color in this item.I bought the black sweatshirt, in (mens) xl. I love a thick, soft sweatshirt with a roomy boxy fit. I’m 5’8” and 145 pounds, and this is how I get what I want. Before wearing, I washed this mens-xl on super hot, and super hot rinse (twice) to remove all soap and sizing. (You have to get all the sizing out if you want it SOFT!) Then I stitch down the neckline, for a more finished look that won’t bag-out with wearing. The result is a super thick sweatshirt that is more like ‘boiled wool’ than a simple sweatshirt, and because of the 90/cotton it basically shrunk to a medium/large, which is exactly what I want. Boxy, long sleeves, roomy, covers my butt, great with leggings. And, by the way, the black color didn’t fade (so far) with this very thorough washing. Perfect!!!!Depending on what you want from a sweatshirt, and how much effort you’re willing to expend, this is a great price for a well made sweatshirt, with mostly cotton fiber content.

Fantastic value
Stop right here, you will probably not find a better sweatshirt anywhere at these prices and the best news is they are from a company like Hanes. As prices of everything spiral upward out of control I was surprised but a bit apprehensive about ordering these. Similar sweatshirts with store brands can cost as much as thirty to even fifty bucks, how good could these possibly be at between twelve and fifteen bucks? The answer is, great. They are traditional in every way, thick and warm without being bulky, lined with soft fleecy material, strong elastic at the cuffs and a collar that will hold its shape, and a wide variety of colors including brighter individualistic shades, a decided turn away from the drab dark earth tones most companies offer to men.WHAT I LIKEThe variety of shades and hues is high on my list. I am so tired of companies that think men only wear drab dark colors. Thank you Hanes for letting me express myself the way I want to. I also like that these are the ideal weight for multi-season wear. They are just slightly lightweight enough to be able to wear them over a tee shirt for layering, something important in the climate zone where I live. And they are made very well, I do not look or feel like I am wearing an under fifteen buck sweat shirt.MINOR DETAILSNone of these things would keep me from buying several more of these but I should point them out. One is that the tag is rather stiff and chafes at the neck. That’s not major because I can easily cut it off and I suspect it will soften after a few washings. The other thing is that the neck seems very slightly high in the front compared to other similar sweatshirts. I think that will probably loosen up after a while but for a crew neck it seems a little constraining, men with larger necks might want to take note. And one final thing, I am very much against companies charging different prices for their different colors when the product is otherwise identical. It doesn’t cost them any more and it seems materialistic to base their price on how trendy one shade may be over another.YES NO MAYBEThis is a definite yes for me to the point I already have finger poised on the buy button to get several more. It is so nice when prices are going ballistic to find something that is a real value.

Great sweatshirt AND a great price! Looks and feels very nice!
The sweatshirt looks and feels great, EXCEPT for one thing. When the sweatshirt arrives , it does NOT smell good! There is some odor. Doesn't seem to be b/o like someone else wore it, but more like a chemical smell! I needed to wash it twice before the odor subsided enough where it was comfortable to wear and other people didn't comment. Size and feel though are very nice.. Overall, seems like very good quality and a fantastic value for the money. Keep in mind, you'll probably not be able to wear it right out of the box or bag.

Bigger than Fruit of the Loom...........
These are heavier and larger than FOTL. I take a large in those...but only needed a medium with Hanes. And they much heavier...which is a good thing. Yeah they cost a bit more, but its justified.

Warm but VERY STIFF
Was surprised by this since I bought a Hane's Ultimate Cotton Heavyweight sweatshirt a few years ago and loved it. This is very heavy, warm material which is nice, BUT the best way I can describe the feel is "industrial". It is very stiff and has a raincoat/ windbreaker feel to it from the outside. If you stand it up on end will literally hold its shape, almost stand up on its own, that's how stiff it is. Probably good for someone using it for work and outdoor activities, but I was looking for comfort around the house, and this just isn't the comfy feel I would look for. BUT seems very durable and is very warm, so its still a good quality shirt that will probably last a long time.

quality, heavy material
As a female, I like wearing men's oversized sweatshirts around the house - especially during the colder temps. Unlike some sweatshirts, these are heavy material and warm, with no need for layering to keep comfortable on chilly nights. I can always trust this brand when I want quality and comfort.
