Different than neti pot, and better for me and my recurring allergies/throat/bronchitis/pneumonia problems
First and foremost, this device is subtly different from a neti pot in what it does. We've used a neti pot for years, and it does a good job of keeping our upper respiratory problems reasonably controlled, and without the use of systemic medications, which we like. However, for me, I've had a recurring pattern where I get allergies or a cold which causes drainage in the back of my throat, in the area that's sort of above the mouth cavity but below the sinuses, sort of the upper side of the soft palate called the 'nasopharynx' based on the illustrations I've seen. That area would get scratchy and dry, which led to a lot of non-productive coughing, which then led to further irritation, which led to infection which sometimes ended up in bronchitis or pneumonia. Before the traditional neti pot, this happened two or three times a year. After we started using the traditional neti pot, the frequency was reduced to once every year or two. However, with the neti pot, I could *feel* that it wasn't rinsing/reaching that area, except with minor backwash. With the traditional neti pot, you lay your head to the side and pour into the upper nostril, and the fluid drains down the side of the higher sinus and into the lower sinus cavity, but it didn't really wash out the very far back of the sinuses, which is the top of the throat just above the soft palate, which was the source of virtually all of my upper respiratory issues. But then, on a lark, we decided to try this device because we had mislaid our old neti pot after traveling with it. Using this Nasopure is different than a traditional neti pot in that you remain standing up, and you squeeze the bottle to create pressure to push the saline into one nostril, and it flows immediately into the back of the throat (which can be uncomfortable or surprising the first times you use it) and fills it up until the level rises to the point where the saline flows out of the other nostril. In short, it *focuses* on that problem area of the far back of the sinuses/throat, which for me is fantastic. Since we've been using the Nasopure I've had a couple of instances where I felt that old, familiar tickle in the back of the throat, and using this device immediately reduced the irritation of the area, and I have yet to develop any serious upper respiratory issues. It's only been a couple of months, so not enough data to draw any conclusions, but definitely positive experience so far, and I plan to come back here and update as events warrant. Also, using this is messier than the neti pot, particularly if you have a beard and mustache like I do. The exiting fluid essentially flows down over your lips and chin - you can lean forward slightly to try to minimize it, but that's still where it wants to go. I have moved to using this in the shower so that I can rinse to my heart's content and not worry about messing up the sink area, wetting my clothes, etc.Bottom line, if you frequently have minor colds/allergies lead to scratchy/dry back of the throat issues, that then tend to progress to something worse, this might be the perfect product for you. Highly recommended.

This review is for newbies
This is my first neti pot device. I was super nervous to try using one but my allergies are really severe sometimes, and I knew I needed something more than just my everyday allergy meds. If you are new like me, this is a perfect starter kit. I would start off with 1 salt packet and move up to two later when you're more experienced with it. Be sure to pick up a gallon of distilled water at the grocery store for this, it's faster and easier than trying to make your own sanitary water. I recommend practicing the first time over a sink with a towel at the edge of the sink in case any water drips down. Don't wear a shirt, or wear a top you don't care gets wet until you have the technique down, because there's a good chance you may get a little water on yourself the first time. Overall don't be scared if you're worried it will feel like those times when you're swimming and you get water up your nose. That was probably my biggest fear trying it out and it's not like that at all. Because of the way you tilt your head to do it, it doesn’t cause any discomfort like that. It's a little awkward if it's your first time, but that's just because it's new. If you have been thinking about getting one to help you with your allergies, just go for it. It's a huge difference for me when I have days when I'm really congested and it's not coming out the front or back of my nasal cavity. It really loosens up stuck mucus and washes it out so you can finally breathe clearly.

4.5 stars; perfect except you gotta replace bottle each season
Nice starter kit for a 1st time Neti pot user. I suffer from year round terrible allergies, occasional sinus infection, princess like demands of products, and inflammation in my face and body from the allergies.Should you but it?PROS: Yes, because it is the easiest neti pot to use. No awkward angles to try and get water to defy gravity and go up your nose; just squeeze the bottle until you get your desired water pressure. Yes, because it comes with everything you need, including pre-measured salt packets, to add to sterilized/distilled/purified/boiled water provided by you. Yes, because it was a pleasant experience. Yes, because it works.CONS: No, because you are supposed to replace the bottle every 3 months... which means you're ordering this kit or the like every 3 months.*I hope the makers decide to make a one-time purchase only version (using a different material/plastic, since I suppose the issue is keeping the squeeze ability), because I just want to buy 1 neti pot and then forget about it. I don't want to throw down $15 every season to wash my nose.*TIPS:*keep boiled water from the coffee or tea pot and use that after it's cooled down; store the boiled water in the fridge for neti pot use. NEVER use tap water unpurified/unboiled.*Warm it up like you would a bottle for a kid, in a bowl of hot water and test on wrist. Warm water is more pleasant in the nose. Never microwave the bottle.*Use the neti pot in the shower; it's the easiest way to stop from making a mess.*Don't forget to breathe while doing it, out your nose and in through mouth.*Do the more clogged nostril first.*Wash with warm water and mild detergent/dish soap to clean, air dry and make sure completely dry before using.*Wash all parts before first use.
