What is the actual point of it

It saves water. I have one in my sink at home and in the caravan. It's great if you are cleaning and need water when there is a tap nowhere near, just take the sink with you. Incidentally, you turn the plug to close it, not push it down like the usual sink plugs that let all the water out 🤔

Hi is it dishwasher safe

It says in the write up wash regularly with hot soapy water. I have never put mine in the dishwasher - for one thing it’s a bit bulky.
