Does the stethoscope function properly?

The stethoscope is a good replica for role play for young children but no it does not work like a real stethoscope, you can't hear anything through the earpieces. I would not recommend a real miniature stethoscope for children as it could possibly hurt/damage their eardrums.

Does the stethoscope have batteries in? Can you hear a ‘heartbeat’ through it?

This does not make any noise-imaginative play required for hearing a heartbeat!
