A useful tool
A very good and easy-to-use tool that will save you a lot of hassle with those pesky, self-locking spring hose clamps - especially the ones in fiddly places.

Great product
These pliers are an absolute life saver. I messed around for ages trying to remove and reattach a spring hose clip on my cars thermostat housing that I was replacing with long nose pliers and mole grips, but had no access. Ordered these and did it in a few minutes.

Great for access
Used to release a spring pipe clip that was buried between the engine and the vehicle engine bay and about 280mm deep. I did have to force the clip around a few degrees, because the carriage system does require space to be placed over the ears of the clip, but enough to get good engagement. Then with two hands, especially at other. beginning when the handles are quite wide apart, squeeze the pliers and get compression on the clip. These VW clips are really strong springs out of necessity, so by releasing a bit and squeezing again, I was able to fully compress the clip. As I had been using Mole grips up to now on all the reachable clips, this was a doddle as the ratchet system allows you to pause and keep the clip under tension and especially at the end when fully compressed, the pliers are locked safely. The only observation I have at that point is that although the ratchet is spring loaded, the engagement of the pawl with the rack is a little coarse. I aim to look at this more closely before I use it to remount there pipe work and shape the pawl point somewhat better.Otherwise , why did I never buy one of these before. Good tool for the price when you can pay £45 and upwards for the same item.

Excellent Tool - Invaluable in tight Engine Bays
Often I find myself struggle to undo water pump clips with a pair of bent nose pliers, but a friend of mine suggested picking up a pair of these, Well - They were definitely worth the price, making short work of some of the hard to reach areas. They are a bit tricky at first, but once you have the hang of the locking mechanism and the way it locks into place, you will probably find yourself reaching for these as a first port of call when it comes to removing those tricky clips. The only downside is occasionally you will slip off the clip, but it a small price to pay for keeping the skin on your hands.

Not up to the job. Don’t waste your money.
A clever idea, but not up to scratch. Couldn’t successfully fit even one coolant hose clamp. Would not compress far enough, and when squeezing slightly harder the nipple came off the end of the cable and it snapped closed.I was hoping I’d only need it for one hard to reach clamp so only bought a cheap one, but there’s probably a reason this type of tool costs either £12 or £120…

Broke on first use
I had medium hopes for something this cheap but unfortunately was let down by the steel cable. The ball to pull the cable on the tool end broke off and fired into the distance, never to be seen again.Spend a bit more money, get something that won’t fire a projectile because it won’t break
