Will this phone work during power shutdown??

No, the phone will not work when there is a power shut down.The cordless phone will work only if there is power to the base unit (via the power adapter), AND the battery inside the handset is in a charged state.If there is a power outage, the base unit and the handset would not be able to communicate with each other, and hence the phone would not operate. If there is an inverter in use, connecting the adapter to an inverter outlet is a good idea to ensure continuous operation.

How is the speaker phone quality of the phone. I mean voice clarity and loudness during call.

Its quite good. Even elder/aged people can clearly hear the voice. Instrument is sturdy and handy too. Since this is being used indoors, haven't found any distortion/break-in-speech during calls yet..
