Ruger SP101 sight issues
Bottom of Sight is not flush on the barrel, its wider and needs major work to install. In the photo you can see the horizontal line that should be level with your barrel, itโs not. You will need to sand that away in order to push the sight into the grove. The sight out of the box is too wide, so Not knowing the first issue will have you wondering why you have a gap between the front/rear of the sight, itโs the Horizontal line that will stop the sight from seating properly. In the end, just sand both sides down to that line, and then drill your hole for the roll pin. I would not recommend this sight for anyone to do themselves, unless you have the tools and knowledge to make it work. Hope this helps, and enjoy your Gunsmithing with this Sight on your Ruger SP101.

For self-defense only, not for bulls-eyes at the range
Nothing wrong with materials, workmanship or quality, BUT one HUGE problem: This sight is too high and will make your gun shoot lower as a result! And one thing, I see a lot of complaints in reviews of these and other front sights about the need to stone down the lower section to get it to fit in the slot on the barrel, and the requirement to drill your own pin hole ... Folks, this is just normal minor fitting. Precision gun parts often require minor fitting, ask any gunsmith. I'm not a gunsmith myself, but my advice is if you can't handle this type of work, then take the job to a pro. So anyway, I did all that work and perfectly fitted the Meprolight sight to my 3" bbl Ruger SP101, and found the point of impact 2.5" lower at 12 yards. The OEM Ruger sight measures .135" installed height, and the elevation is good at 12 yards with the sight picture just covering the bulls eye. The Meprolight measures .150" installed height. This .015" difference is enough on a short radius gun to make a big difference downrange. A 2" bbl would be even worse. With the point of impact that far off, the accuracy is reduced to the level of a "belly gun". Who needs a precision night sight on a belly gun??? Not me. I just bought 48 bucks worth of experience. And I can't find anybody who makes a good .135" sight for the SP101. One (wrong) size fits all ... So I just put some day-glo paint on the ramp of the OEM sight and re-installed it. Don't bother putting this sight on a short-barrel gun with a fixed rear sight, you'll be sorry. UPDATE!!! I now understand why everybody makes their night sights higher than stock, it's because the groove in the top of the gun's frame tapers off and the frame partially obscures the bottom of the dot at stock height. SEE PHOTOS. I filed down the height of mine from the bottom to get a .135 installed height, (don't try this yourself unless you have good tools and skills). I used # 620 green Loctite for adhesive since there is now no cross pin, and the stuff holds great, not coming loose after plenty of shooting, no pin needed. Shooting bulls-eyes indoors gives lighting conditions that make the dot invisible because the target is lit brighter than the firing line, and all you see is a dark silhouette of the front blade. With the sight lowered the elevation is OK, but I seem to be hitting to the right for some reason, maybe it's just my eyes. But in dim light at close range (15 feet) with the glow of the tritium visible on a target that is lit just enough to make clear identification I find the sight works well in live draw practice. I draw, find the dot, and put it just above the receiver as you would the bead of a shotgun, disregarding the rear sight notch which can't be seen in low light, then put the dot at 6 o'clock and fire in DA. I easily keep it on a paper plate with 25% bulls-eyes, using +P .38 spl ammo. If I had installed the sight at full height, then it would probably need to cover the target to get a bulls-eye in this type of fire. SO, the product is actually well suited for self defense where you need to aim quickly and use it like the bead on a shotgun, but shooting bulls-eyes will be impossible in a silhouette situation where you'll be putting the front blade inside the rear notch

Great upgrade for your SR9
I had toyed with the idea of night sights on my SR9c before but I wasn't sure I had enough need to justify the price. Plus I was always happy with the stock sight design. When I saw these were marked down to under $70 I decided to jump on them as a birthday present to myself. I have changed out sights before but based on some of the other reviews and what I read elsewhere I decided to let a gunsmith handle these since I don't have an actual sight pusher and I didn't want to accidentally damage these or the gun with a punch. It's the first time I've ever had anyone else work on a gun for me but it's probably the way to go with these. As far as the sights go I love them. I really like the Novak style 3-dot sights which these emulate perfectly so they are easier and faster to aim to me than the stock sights. I've also let another SR9c owner shoot them and he felt the same way. The tritium is very, very bright and makes the dots stand out extremely well in low light. My SR9c is my home defense gun and without contacts/glasses in I could not pick up the sights even good lightning. With these I can still see all three dots without contacts or glasses and could still aim the gun even in dim lightning. It's a nice feature in my mind since if something were to happen in the middle of the night and you had to grab the gun out of the bedside safe, you may not have time to put on your glasses. These are a little wider than the stock sights but not enough to be an issue and they are also non-adjustable. Luckily though they seem to be dead on with the gun. I've only put about 100 rounds through the gun since putting these on but I don't have any concerns about them holding up. Everything Meprolight makes seems to be bullet-proof. If they do fail for some reason I will report back in but as of right now I am extremely pleased with these.

Need to have a drill press, or competent gun smith
My problem, is you need to drill the front sight. I have not found a gunsmith in my local area that will/can drill the holes. So they are just sitting in the safe next to my P-90
