It works as it should
This is nice Froe it works as it should. I made two Mallets as my 1st protect with it. Remember you should not use a steel hammer to pound on any Froe , you should always use a mallet made of wood. So that you don’t damage the top edge. this is a lighter duty tool than the heavier duty ones that cost a lot more money. But with reasonable force you can split and pry boards or Shakes with it. And it is for splitting not cutting so it does not need to be very sharp.

Chinese made, but not total garbage
Don't buy any marketing bs that makes it sound like this was made in the USA. The box was stamped China. That said, I like quality tools and this seems... ok - although I've never used a froe before so I have only my expectations to compare it with. I bought it to split green wood for furniture parts, and it worked well. Along with a couple of steel firewood splitting wedges, I took apart a 4 ft long x 12" diameter red oak log. Shorter pieces of straight-grained wood split pretty easily with the froe alone. The handle looks like European Beech, and wedges in place. Don't use the provided screw, you'll just shear the head off. Levering the handle to extend a split was flexing the metal blade. It looks like it sprung back (vs. bending like cheap iron) but I'm not going to push it too hard, and that may be an overall flaw in the design. You should be able to crank on that handle to control the split. The blade came with a shiny coat of thick black paint, but the metal underneath appears to be old and rusty where I've knocked the paint off. I doubt that matters. I hit it with a dogwood beetle - basically a small length of log with a handle at one end. Don't use a metal hammer.

Strong and well built, great product
Shipped fast and easy to use, reccomend getting the black paint off the edge and working the edge to desired level of sharp.

Not as durable as I expected.
This is my second one, the first one I broke within a week of having it. It is sharp and does as it should but is not made from a high grade material and will not last long for any more than occasional use.

Nice tool
Good weight, nice balance. Not as sharp as I expected, but froes are for splitting- not cutting, so I will try it out well before touching it up. Feels like a nice tool- can't wait to try it out.

Cheap, ineffective, for looks
The thing is not functional. It's cheap and dull, and doesn't fit its handle. I guess it's just for looks..?

sturdy blade
you may need to sharpen blade some as I did , works fine takes a little patience if your looking to make shingles or short boards of wood 1/2" or more in thickness , I make. bluebird houses and I wanted a rough natural look so I used this to cut a round piece of white ash ,, I never used a fro before takes a little learning watch some u-tube vids
