Really pleased with this basket it reduces the amount of charcoal needed for a long burn by concentrating the coals in a more restricted area. So easy to use. Fits perfectly in my kamado egg. Great value for money considering the quality of the steel.

Works as expected, good quality and value. There's a review here saying it works with the Aldi 2022 Kamado BBQ (which is what I was planning to use it for). My BBQ was purchased in April 2022 and this basket (the BGE / Joe Large) is very snug to get into the fire box and requires some very gentle persuasion. Once it's past the rim of the ceramic fire box the fit is much better - but check that you have some room to account for expansion when it's hot otherwise there could be a chance of it cracking the ceramic.

First off this does fit in my Kamado Joe Classic with the original grate in place under the basket and the standard grill holder above it. I read some reviews which said it didn't fit without removing the bottom grate. Does seem over priced and not sure of the cost benefit but it does mean I can put in less charcoal without spreading the coals too thinly to get a good heat. Plus I reckon it does help the air flow and so coals seem to light up quicker (but this may be more about the type of charcoal as I started using a new supply recently). Cleaning out ash is now much easier as I can remove the basket and remnant cold coals allowing ash to drop through. I can simply brush that into the collector at the bottom. Have not done it yet but one idea I had was to remove the basket (with still hot coals) at the end of the cooking and then extinguish the coals. I tend to find that my coals, if left, simply burn on until they are used up which is a waste of charcoal (even with the top/bottom vents closed). An integral divider would be good - maybe to create a smaller hot zone for a small BBQ or say to keep charcoal and wood blocks separated to add some smoke flavour (like hickory, apple wood etc). Too soon to know about durability but at this price I am expecting 5 years plus of service from it.

Very heavy duty….. good life I’m sure. Greatly aids air flow. I’d never use my green egg without it. Quality is right, price is right.

A must for your green egg. A great size basket for your charcoal just shake out any used small bits and ready to use next time. Makes cleaning out your green egg so much easier and quicker.

Ok, this basket is perfect in my egg! makes cleaning so much better, I removed the original iron base plate (which required cleaning out the holes all the time ) and dropped this in. Now I simply grab the side handles give it a shake and add more coal! Has made cleaning and prepping the BBQ faster and with less mess. Should have gotten this a long time ago, do yourself a favour and get one! you will not regret it!!
