This really has only one job, to hold the top cymbal in place while being wailed on repeatedly. Maybe it's not going to win any prestige awards for beauty, fit or finish, it so far does its one job well. I play hard, and this clutch holds in place, even when the set is open and being used as a splash hat. If something fails, I'll update the review. Happy hitting!

I bought a Pearl 900 series hi hat stand (used) from Guitar Center for CHEAP! It was practically brand new. It didnt come with a hi hat clutch though, so I used this one which I bought as a back up a while back on Amazon. OMG was I surprised! This bad boy is SOLID. I just placed an order with Amazon and added to that order two more of these since theyll ship free and are currently $3.99. Now Ill have two more practically for the price of one. GREAT DEAL. This hi hat clutch is SOLID and works great. WAY BETTER than I had expected. TBH I originally ordered this (last time I did) as a spare/back up just in case. But when I recently put it to use I couldnt believe it. Again it works MUCH better than I anticipated, it is again solid, sturdy, and easy to use. Grips the hi hat rod very well/solidly without much applied tension. It grips so well its in a way kind of weird, no cranking down needed (at all). This is what I like about the most and what actually shocked me when I used it for the first time recently. It works so good Id have to say it grips and holds better than any other clutch Ive ever used. Nice. Great product, its looks and price definitely are deceiving! For $3.99 buy two or three, have a couple back ups and one as a main clutch that also works great.

I bought this several months ago and it works fine! I had to replace my old hi hat clutch after years of usage and this was an affordable option. It's easy to use just like any other hi hat clutch. I will say: one drawback is its tendency to come loose. Specifically, the top nut can come loose and I have to retighten it often. This can be a tad problematic for hard-hitters and consistent users such as myself. Other than that, it works just fine. If you're in need of a quick fix, this is fine! But if you're a heavy user of your drums, perhaps other options will pique your interest more.

I like that this clutch is easy to use. There are some fancy ones but this is something that you need to have two of. When ever I have a gig, I always keep an extra nearby since changing hihats is way easier if all the hihats have their own clutch. Very happy with the product and loving the simplicity of it.

Great piece! It holds the hats steadily along the way no matter how hard you hit on them or how many times you have to break it down after playing. This is the second one I bought for live gigs and recording sessions and as the first one I purchased about two and a half years ago and is perfectly resisting the drumsricks' storm and stays in position! Its incredibly affordable price makes it even cooler!
