Great Product, Annoying Speaker so I Removed it here's how:
I got this because it had the infrared thermometer plus the probe thermometer. Both are within a few degrees of each other. What I hated about this product was the speaker that comes with it. I read the user manual to see if there was a way to turn it off... There wasn't a method that I found... Other than brute forcing it 🤠. If you are going to put a speaker of any kind on a product make sure you give people a setting to turn it off! Everytime you scan something and release the button it beeps! Everytime you release! That gets annoying fast! It doesn't beep as you hold the button though just once you stop scanning.Anyways I included photos to use as a guide. All you have to do is unclip the orange perimeter that surrounds the screen. I didn't have a guide so I disassembled most of the product before realizing the easier method (which was what I just mentioned). You will want two prying tools one for each side (flatheads work good or a butter knife) and maybe needle nose pliers to pull the speaker off the motherboard or you could try your fingers. With your method of prying tools on both left and right side of the bezels that's where the clips are (two on both sides none on the top and bottom)There could be an easier method which involves a push pin (thumb tack with a handle). Stick that in the center hole of the speaker gill and push down forcefully (when I did that the speaker volume seemed to go down but that could have been the placebo effect). If your goal is to try and remove/disable the speaker then push then pin in the center hole and wiggle it until you hear the speaker snap off (it's soldered to the motherboard so once it snaps off it won't have any power). I didn't think it was soldered to the motherboard so I didn't try that method and can't verify if it works for removing it. However if it does it will shake around inside the unit unless you decide to remove it. But it shouldn't be nearly as annoying as the beeping. If it had a mute button this review would have been way shorter! I like the products just hate that they didn't have a simple method of muting the darn thing. To get a more accurate temp reading of water I had to set it to EMS of 85 instead of 93 for skin I had to put it on 79 instead of 98
