Good kibble that's not too rich
I have two Jack Russells, one of which has a particularly sensitive stomach, and food that’s too rich just doesn’t agree with him. Having had both my dogs on various different types of kibble over the years, most recently the excellent Acana Wild Prairie, I thought I’d try something else and various posters on the canine forums suggested Taste of the Wild dog food, which I hadn’t actually heard of. Some also suggested a spoonful of bran every day, so with that in mind I moved my dogs to Taste of the Wild Southwest Canyon in combination with some bog-standard wheat bran. The list of ingredients in Southwest Canyon was a factor in my choice as it contains zero grains, a good dose of fruits and vegetables, and quite a lot in the way of vitamins, including various B vitamins, vitamin D and folic acid. And although the kibble seems slightly smaller than Acana, it’s harder and my dogs have to crunch through it rather than swallowing it whole, as was sometimes the case. Both dogs wolf it down enthusiastically each time they’re given it, and often look for more once their bowls are empty.I’m not sure if it’s the size or constitution of Southwest Canyon (or just the bran) but, in the month or so that they’ve been on the new diet, my dogs’ stool has become much firmer than it ever was previously. I haven’t noticed any change in their disposition or overall health, but neither was ever a problem for me, and they seem as energetic and healthy as ever. They still get the odd upset stomach, but I’m pretty confident I can attribute this to those (very occasional) days when they get a meat meal rather than kibble. As an aside, I also tried them on Taste of the Wild’s Pacific Stream kibble, which seemed just as good for them but which they didn’t scoff with quite the same level of interest. That’s not necessarily a criticism of the food, but my dogs love fish and seafood-based kibble so I was surprised that they weren’t as keen on it as the meat variety.

Great food.
Great quality and my dogs love it. It is hard to find a food for one dog that has chicken allergies and another that has issues with grain. I also love that they have many different flavours to mix it up for them once and a while.

Great food x
I started my dogs on Orijen, but soon stopped as they got terrible diahorrea and blocked anal glands, i searched online and came across a website that does side-by-side comparison between foods, i did a comparison between Oijen and TOTW, TOTW came out better and to be honest the ingredients were virtually identical, my dogs have been on this food for a long while now and love it, its a good price, not cheap but not bank breaking!! the amounts given by age and weight don't look a lot, BUT my dogs aren't hungry between meals. I have no issues with this food, and all ingredients of of human grade, so i could eat it if i wanted too.

Contains trans fats!
I was curious about this ingredient so I looked it up as it as there seems to be a lot of it in this product - ingredients have to be listed in the percentage they are used. It's scary what they are allowed to put in dog food, I thought this was a healthy option it's no wonder dog obesity is on the increase.Canola oil is extracted from rapeseeds that have been bred to contain less of some unfavorable substances. Most of the world’s canola crop is genetically modified. “Canola” is a marketing term. It stands for Canadian Oil (some believe it stands for Canada Oil, Low Acid).Canola oil is made with a highly unnatural processing method that involves high heat, deodorization and the toxic solvent hexane. Significant amounts of trans fats are formed during this process. (http://authoritynutrition.com)
