great bin for those of you who don,t want to use your foot or hand
great idea an electronic sensor lid just awave your hand over the lid and it raises , yes you could use a foot pedal typewhich would be cheaper , but whats the fun in that , its just a neat design , and a great capacity , the lid opening is also almost 90 degrees which gives plenty of access to dispose of your rubbish , the only down side it does use batteries , i started using rechargeable ones as its easier , you will notice as the battery life deteriorates the lid will not fully open ... also very nice design ...The Aston Martin of bins

Wave goodbye to rubbish
Couldn't make our minds up on what bin to purchase but this cam up slightly bigger than the rest. The steel bin looks nice and the lid as mentioned on other reviews is very shinny. The first impressions when unpacking was that the bin was out of shape at the back on the join. However this does ensure a good fit of the lid. The lid itself look flimsy as when you pick it up it slowly falls open if upside down and then closes when turned over. Fitting the batteries and operation is really easy and at just a wave of the hand the lid opens, I think its 6 seconds before it closes, which sounds not a lot, nut in practise is more than enough. If you think you need longer, you can push the open button and then the close button when finished. Can't comment on durability or battery life yet, but we look to turn off of a night to conserve and prolong battery life. A good neat looking bin which I would recommend.

Not working
We had a Tower senson bin for at least four years and it worked really well but got broken therefore we went for same model black with silver top. Got the new one a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately it’s not doing the job. The sensor is very erratic and after working on and off now refused to work compley. Very disappointed as we have had such a good experience for last 4 years with the previous one. Not worth the money.

Good, if a rather expensive for what it is. Not perfect
A good bin, but far from perfect. We have three at home (trash, recycling, green recycling). We bought them during a huge promotion... but the regular price is way to high for what it is. Basically three pound's worth of electronics added to a bin.We also bought two at work (which is where I first saw them) and all five of them have been in operation for maybe a year now - so I think I'm in a good position to comment on the shortcomings of this particular design. Basically, I like these bins, but they do have some flaws:1) The lid does not fit very tightly on the bin. You would not think that this would be a big problem, however the underside of the lid has a big flat "shelf" around it which tends to be pressed upwards by the contents of the bag once it starts to get full. As many items will be partially crushed boxes or cartons yearning for their freedom there can easily be enough upwards force to pop off the lid (see No. 2)2) The lid flap is quite fragile. One of the bins at work has a lid flap that is now held together by duct tape as a result of No. 1. The opening gear (or, more accurately rack) on TWO of the bins at home have broken. Fortunately they were both within the warranty period and were replaced by the manufacturer.3) The battery compartment is prone to corrosion. In one of the units at work either moisture from the garbage or leakage from the batteries (I'm not sure which) has made the battery contacts unreliable .So... you can make your own decision. I have no first-hand experience of other similar bins - so I don't know whether they have similar drawbacks. Other manufacturers do make similar bins.Tower customer service have, to be fair, been responsive and have replaced the broken bins.

Can't live with it
Yes they are expensive, but worth every penny, I've bought 2 for friends as they loved it too , a kitchen must have !!The battery lasts around a year , easy to get your rubbish out & never have to touch the bin 😉 with full hands .. you then expect all your bins to be the same after using this .. it really is a great kitchen must have ..Recommend 10 /10
