PETZL Macchu Children's Sit Climbing Harness

No specific dislikes of this harness. Purchased as a replacement for a body harness for a growing 4 year old. Should be noted that Petzl does sell a BODY shoulder harness to use for top roping, but my child has figured out how to stay upright when hanging from a tope rope. As it is a piece of safety equipment, it is as robust as a standard adult harness (though manufacturer only rates to 40kg). Adjustment is easy, especially with the dual buckles on the waist component (similar to Corax; a frustration I've had on adult BD harnesses). Should grow nicely when the kiddo. Decent size gear loops, but would like to have a gear loop in the rear. Would also like to see a haul loop (the manufacturer says there is an accessory loop in the back but this is where the buckle for the detachable elastic leg loops connect to the harness). I've had some partners that have sewn in their own cord to the back of a lighter weght harness to have a rear gear loop and if the kiddo needs this, I'll consider doing the same. Overall, seems to be the best kids harness out there and excellent for the price.

This has been a great harness for my girls! It fits both my 5 and my 8 year old because it has so much adjustability. No complaints and seems to be very comfortable for the kids. Nothing I would change on the harness and would recommend it as a first harness for those trying to get their younger kids into climbing.

I don't think Petzl need more qualification. It is good as always. really good fit for my son of 4 years old.

We have two small climbers in our family. Our 7 year old uses this harness and our 5 year old wears the Black Diamond equivalent. Both are excellent products but as the adult, I find Petzl’s design far easier to to adjust at the waist and the leg loops. Sturdiness was never a concern when purchasing a Petzl product, but we’ve still never seen a stitch out of place on this harness. She finds it comfortable, attractive and easy to get in and out of. Highly recommended! UPDATE: (almost 2 years later) My daughter is now turning 9. She's just shy of 60lbs (27kg) and about 4'4" (132cm). Perhaps these measurements will help some prospective buyers. I should note that she uses this harness 3-4 times a week in team practices and it's still going strong!

We purchased this for an 8 year old who is just getting into indoor rock climbing. The harness is well made and easy to put on and take off. It was easy to adjust based on the child and hook on to the carabiner. We were very comfortable trusting the child’s safety to this harness.
