Sennheiser HD400S Headphones
Was looking for a new pair of headphones to use with my Yamaha keyboard. Saw these and they were within my budget. A good fit, and blocks out extraneous background noise effectively (but this is down to their closed-back design - they don't have a noise cancelling feature). Much better build quality than my previous foldable Sony headphones - but you get what you pay for. A good, all round set of headphones for a very reasonable price. Delivered very quickly and excellent service from the vendor. 10/10

Reliability
Always great headphones Last ages & I use them all day at work, never have any problems. Brilliant!!!

Sound okay but rather uncomfortable.
Okay as a backup for my Sony noise cancelling phones. They sound okay but I find the earpads on the Sennheiser HD400S headphones to be inadequate for them to be worn for very long. The pads are thin and flimsy so my ears contact the headphones baffle. I also find that they actually become painful to wear after a while, especially as I need to wear spectacles for VDU work.On the other hand they were cheap, so I guess one gets what one pays for. With the latter point in mind, I will give them 4 stars instead of the 3 that was my first thought.Edit: I forgot to mention when I originally posted this review that, when playing games like 'Sniper Elite' on my Playstation, my Sennheiser HD 400S headphones actually reverse the left and right sound channels. A tad confusing, so another reason not to used them for gaming. Okay for music, Spotify and such, I suppose but a bit confusing with games where one needs to be able to hear what’s lurking around the next turn, wall, or whatever. Hopefully this is just my pair of headphones and not a general flaw with this product.

Good budget headphones
Having recently retired, I now have the time to get back into some of my old FPS PC games. Having found my old headphones had almost dissintegrated through years of non use, I ordered these as a cheap replacement. Sennheisser obviously have a good name in the headphone world and I was not dissapointed. They are a little tight on my head (I don't have a particularly big head). Sound from music has to be tweaked a bit in the audio player but they sound great gaming.

2 year review: Don't bother.
I have owned these headphones for 2 years, in which time they've seen fairly light use as my portable set that I take on long walks, train journeys etc. I have probably taken them out roughly 15-20 times at most.I have almost nothing positive to say about these headphones. Even before they broke (which I'll get to shortly), it was apparent that they were riddled with design flaws and quality issues. As many other reviewers have noted, comfort is poor. People with larger ears have reported that the openings of the ear cups are quite small and can pinch the ears around the edges. I'm fortunate enough to have ears small enough to fit inside the cups, but still found that the foam around them was a little firm and could cause numbness around my ears after fairly brief periods of time. Worse than this is the headband, which has no padding, just a vaguely flexible rubber strip, and feels like it's cutting into your head after a short while. If you can put up with the discomfort, the plastic of the headphones creaks and groans like an arthritic old man's knees whenever you move your head, and the thudding of your footsteps is also somehow transferred directly into your ears. This is rather intrusive and difficult to ignore, making them poor for journeys and rubbish when walking. Sound quality is a little flat but generally okay for the price, so you can enjoy this as long as you keep perfectly stationary to avoid having it spoiled by the sound of creaking plastic. It's also worth mentioning that the cable is very thin and feels like it could snap easily if it ever got caught in anything.Late last year, the joint of the right cup which allows rotation left and right snapped when taking the headphones off, leaving the cup hanging freely. The joint is so small that I'm surprised it didn't break sooner (I've attemped to show the break in the pictures but the size made it difficult. It's the small, grey looking inner ring inside the hinge). I wrapped it in duct tape as a remedy, which meant that the cup no longer fitted flush with my head. Last week, the same joint broke in the left cup when taking them out of my rucksack. So they have now been unceremoniously binned.I was led to believe that Sennheiser produce headphones of excellent quality at all price points, but these were so poor that I will be avoiding them like ebola for the foreseeable future. They're rubbish for travelling but I can't recommend them for use at a desk either due to the discomfort, nasty plastic creaking and the overall flimsiness of the build.Save your money and find an alternative.

They are OKAY.
In terms of value for money, paying anymore for these I would've sent them back. They are easy to connect and they sound better they my arctis gaming headset previously. But they are extremely uncomfortable.I listen to metal and rock and it does the instrumentals well but vocals are quite lacking. They are quite light and portable of course but they are horrifically uncomfortable. The top headband has the thinnest padding I've seen so it digs into your skull. They do surround the ears nicely though and aren't as uncomfortable there.Overall a 3/5, you could likely get better even at the discounted price.
