Most comprehensive volume on the B yet
Simply the most detailed and colorful book on the B model published to date. The quality of photos and drawings is solid. Each version of prototype and production version is displayed in photos and line drawings. Extensive coverage of A versions converted to the Merlin Engine both in America and Britain in both photos and line drawings. They have covered the production B/C versions with a mix of wartime black & white, wartime color and present day color restored aircraft and line drawings. Every thing you need for painting a model is here. The technical field modification and flying manuals also are reproduced, giving us a sense for the idiosyncrasies and dangers of flying the Mustang in combat as well as modifications made in the field. I anticipated the excellent color profiles but I did not expect and was happily pleased, to see the extensive graphic reproductions of the control panels and color photos of restored aircraft cockpits. The color profiles are laid out 2 per page and the large format makes it easy to take in all the detail. This is my 21st book on the Mustang one dating back to 1971. You won’t find any personal accounts of pilots in combat — on the other hand you won’t find a finer more comprehensive technical study of the B anywhere.

A fine work. Well organized. Some history updates.
Author had good breakdown of production batches and was aware of the aileron developments with the block one to block five series of the B model. Would have been very complimentary to the history to have pursued the use of the wing skin reinforcements at stations 166 and 189 that came with the final balancing developments. The story would have contributed to a void in prior works with this coverage and the deactivation of the booster tabs. He does include photographs of the subject.

Not very good
One word: Disapointed. I’m glad I didn’t pay more than the $16.00 I did. Seems thrown together. Little that is interesting.
